Anyone tried IDGod recently? Quality check
Hey, I figured I'd throw in my recent experience since I just got my order from them last week. Ordered two California IDs about three and a half weeks ago. The whole process is basically the same as it's always been with them — you place the order on the site, pay with whatever method they're offering at the time, and then you just wait. I didn't get any confirmation beyond the automated email right after checkout, but that's pretty standard for this vendor. Communication is minimal unless you reach out first, and even then responses are pretty slow — I asked a question about the signature placement about a week in and got a reply two days later. Nothing dramatic, just not super responsive.
Shipping timeline: Order was placed on a Monday, went into "processing" for about 5 days, then shipped. From the day it shipped to my mailbox was exactly 12 days, which matches what they say. Total time from order to door was about 18-19 days. Pretty standard for them. Packaging stealth was decent — came in a plain bubble mailer with a return address that looks like a random residential place in New York. Inside was a small cardboard sleeve, and the IDs were sandwiched between two pieces of thin cardboard. No smell, no extra noise. Nothing that would raise red flags if someone opened it by mistake.
As for quality: the CA IDs feel right in hand, thickness is good, the raised text on the birthday and expiration is there. Passes UV light with the state outline and the little bear showing up exactly like my buddy's real one. Scanned them at a gas station and a local liquor store — both went through fine. The microprint is visible under a loupe, not perfect but close enough. The signature looks printed on, not sharpie-like on the real ones, but that's a common trade-off. The photoshop on the dmv template is pretty good, colors are on point. The only minor thing is the laminate might be slightly too shiny under bright lights, but nothing that's gotten me called out yet. Haven't tried any high-risk spots like a club or a bar with a bouncer who uses a blacklight and magnifier — that's the real test. For now I'd call it a solid 7.5/10 for CA.
Value for money: I paid around $100-110 for the pair after the discount they always run. Comparing to other vendors at similar price points, the quality is average on the high end. Not top-tier but definitely not a scam. Pros: reliable shipping timeframe, UV and scans work out of the box, physical feel is decent. Cons: communication is slow, the signature and laminate are slightly off, and you're rolling the dice on stricter venues. Overall I'd say if you need something for daily carry at gas stations or low-key spots, IDGod is still a safe bet. But if you're planning on hitting high-end clubs or banking on flawless, I'd look at pricier options. Just my two cents.
