Arkansas ID quality check — my notes

Ordered an Arkansas card as part of a deliberate quality comparison project. Arkansas is not a commonly ordered state, which made me curious about how well vendors handle less-popular templates. Here are my notes.

Template accuracy

The Arkansas license uses a distinctive blue-dominant color scheme with the state outline as a background design element. The card I received reproduced this correctly — color saturation matched the genuine reference I had, and the state outline element was in the right position and proportional size.

Font choices and field layout were accurate. The license class designation printed in the correct zone. The under-21 design variant uses a vertical card orientation, and this vendor correctly used the horizontal format for the adult version.

Security feature assessment

Arkansas licenses use a holographic overlay that includes a repeating state outline pattern. On the vendor card, the overlay was present and showed the correct angle-dependent shift. The design elements within the hologram were present but less crisp at the edges of the overlay area than on a genuine card I examined — a density issue at the overlay margins rather than a missing feature.

UV features were present and in approximately correct positions. Color accuracy under 365nm UV was close but not perfect — one element appeared slightly more yellow-green than the blue-white seen on the genuine card. This could reflect a UV ink chemistry difference or a calibration issue in the vendor's UV printing process.

Overall assessment

For a less-commonly-ordered state template, this was a better result than I expected. The template accuracy was high and the security features were present, if not perfect. The hologram density at the overlay margins and the UV color slight variation are the main quality notes.

This vendor has clearly produced Arkansas cards in sufficient volume to have a refined template. For common states they handle daily, the quality is probably higher. Arkansas represents a solid mid-tier result — passing for casual inspection, with some detectable differences under careful examination.
