Best budget-friendly vendors right now?

posted by vman1462 9 months ago 658 views 5 comments

Looking to place an order soon but budget is tight (college student life lol). What are some reliable vendors with good prices right now?

I know the saying "you get what you pay for" but I don't need anything super fancy, just something that'll work at most bars and clubs.

Price range: ideally under $100 if possible. Is that realistic?

I’d second checking recent reviews on turnaround time and customer service responsiveness — makes a huge difference when you’re on a budget. I finally pulled the trigger on a vendor that had solid feedback and felt good watching the order process run smooth. That drop in price doesn’t mean much if they ghost you for weeks. Found a legit vendor that way and no regrets so far.

Honestly, for budget-friendly, I'd say just make sure you check recent reviews on turnaround time and customer service responsiveness. A lot of the cheaper ones are fine if they're legit vendor options, but slow communication can be a red flag. I pulled the trigger on one that had solid recent posts and the order process was smooth—vendor came through with good stealth packaging. Just don't expect instant shipping for under $100.

Pro tip: some vendors charge less if you order in a group. If you have friends who also need IDs, you might be able to get a group discount.

$100 is definitely doable. I paid around that for mine and it's been working fine for months. Look for vendors with good review scores and recent positive feedback.

Also watch for promo codes, some vendors run discounts pretty regularly.

Honestly, the best advice I can give you is pretty much what everyone’s already said — head to the vendor list on this site, filter by price, and actually read through the reviews. Don’t just glance at the star ratings either, because people will leave a 1-star over slow shipping even if the IDs are solid. I did exactly that a few months back when I was looking for something cheap but not complete garbage.

I set my budget around the $50–60 range, which seems to be the sweet spot right now. Anything under that (like the $30–40 stuff) is almost always unreadable — bad templates, wrong microprint, or the polycarb just delaminates after a week. I learned that the hard way last year, so yeah, avoid that tier unless you want something for a one-time joke that’ll fall apart in your wallet.

For the one I ended up going with, here’s how it played out: Ordered on a Monday night, got a confirmation email the next morning (about 18 hours later — not instant but reasonable). Shipped out four days after payment cleared, which is pretty standard for budget vendors. Delivery took about 10 days via standard mail from overseas. So total timeline from order to mailbox was roughly 2.5 weeks. Not bad for the price bracket.

Packaging was a plain bubble mailer with a generic return label that just had a street address in a different state — nothing that screamed “fake IDs inside.” Inside was a small cardboard sleeve to keep the cards from bending. No extras like a duplicate or a novelty gift card, which I didn’t expect at this price point anyway. Stealth was fine for domestic shipping, maybe a little risky if customs is super strict, but I’ve seen way worse.

Communication was okay — I asked a couple pre-sale questions about template updates and got replies within 24 hours. After ordering, I didn’t reach out again, so I can’t speak to support responsiveness during production. But the initial chat was friendly enough, no copy-paste vibes.

Overall value for money? I’d give it a solid 8/10. Pros: price was right, turnaround was within the quoted window, colors and UV looked decent under a blacklight, and the material feels close to the real thing. Cons: the microprint is a little blurry if you zoom in with a loupe, and the back overlay alignment is slightly off on one of the cards — minor stuff that most bouncers won’t catch, but a scanner might flag it if they’re being thorough. Still, for two IDs shipped for what I paid, I can’t complain much.

Main takeaway: stick to that mid-range budget, dig through the reviews for recent feedback (pay attention to comments about specific states and template accuracy), and you’ll find a decent vendor without breaking the bank. Just don’t go bottom-barrel cheap unless you’re okay with getting a paperweight in the mail.
