Best vendor for group orders? - thoughts?

posted by girliefordovey 8 months ago 715 views 4 comments

Looking to place a group order for about 8 people. Which vendor has the best bulk pricing right now?

We need good quality and reasonable turnaround time.

I’ve been doing group orders for a while now, and honestly, the biggest piece of advice I can give is exactly what you said — make sure everyone submits good photos. One bad photo can absolutely hold up the entire batch, and when you’ve got ten or fifteen people waiting on their stuff, that gets old fast. I’ve seen it more than once where a single blurry selfie or a weird shadow meant the whole order sat in limbo for an extra week while the person resubmitted. Not fun.

So here’s kind of how a typical group order goes with the vendors I’ve used — keeping names out since YMMV. Everyone sends their photos and info to the group leader, usually me. I collect everything in a shared folder, check each photo for lighting, background, no glare, straight-on shot — the usual specs — and then submit the batch. Payment is a single crypto transaction from one wallet, which saves on fees. Production time takes a bit longer than singles because the vendor has to align all the orders — I’ve seen anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks depending on the backlog. Shipping is usually split into individual envelopes or one big pack with separate stealth, but that’s where packaging stealth comes in.

For stealth, most vendors handling group orders will either send each person’s order in its own discreet envelope — think plain bubble mailer, no logos — or pack everything together inside a larger box with decoy items. I’ve had both. When they pack together, they usually wrap each ID separately so they don’t clank together. If you’re running a group, ask the vendor ahead of time about their packing method — some will do individual shipments for an extra fee. That’s a plus, because nothing kills a group order faster than one person’s package getting snagged and taking everyone else down with it.

Honestly, how fast the vendor gets back to you can vary a lot. Some have a dedicated group order channel or a Telegram group where you can ask questions. Others just do everything over email, which is slower. I’ve found that vendors who advertise group discounts — usually 10-20% off for 5+ units — are usually more responsive because they want that bulk business. Expect replies within 24-48 hours during business hours, but don’t expect hand-holding for each individual member. So as the group lead, you’re the middleman for most questions.

Value for money is where group orders really shine. You split shipping across multiple people, get a bulk discount, and sometimes lower per-unit prices — makes it way cheaper than going solo. I’d give it a solid 9/10, honestly. Only downside is you’re tied to everyone else’s timeline.

On the plus side, it’s cheaper per ID, shared risk — if one gets lost, the others still come — and you can split samples or test orders. On the downside, slower turnaround, one bad photo delays everyone, and you have to trust the group lead with your info. Also, if the vendor screws up a batch, everyone’s out at once. Overall, group orders are great if you vet the people and the vendor. A good group leader makes or breaks it — check photos twice, send everything in one go, and don’t be afraid to kick someone out if they can’t follow instructions.

Communication is key. They respond pretty quick if you have questions

I did a group of 6 last month, worked out great. Saved about 30% per person
