Choosing between OldIronSides and KingOfFakes
Funny, I had the opposite experience years ago — went with OldIronSides first and their vendor communication was spotty at best. Eventually pulled the trigger on KingOfFakes too, though, and I gotta say the order process was way smoother. Stealth packaging was solid on both ends for me, but turnaround time felt quicker with KOF honestly. Sounds like we landed on the same legit vendor, so I can't complain. The proof process is more thorough — they sent me three iterations before I approved, flagging a font-weight discrepancy I wouldn't have noticed myself.
The tradeoff is speed. Their queue was running about twenty days from proof approval to shipping when I inquired. And they're slightly more expensive than KingOfFakes for the equivalent product tier.
KingOfFakes
KingOfFakes is faster and cheaper. Multiple people in current forum threads are reporting fourteen to sixteen day turnarounds. Their checkout process is simpler and their payment options are broader. The card quality at the tier I was looking at is consistently described as good for everyday use.
What I found less reassuring was their support. My pre-order question got a short reply that didn't fully address what I asked. Not hostile, just not thorough. For someone who knows what they want and doesn't need handholding, that's fine. For someone with specific state requirements who wants confirmation before paying, it felt thin.
I went with OldIronSides in the end because my target state is one where template accuracy matters and I wanted the extra proof review. If I were ordering a common state where I've seen consistent results from either vendor, I'd probably go with KingOfFakes just to get the faster turnaround.
Worth adding: both vendors offer some form of guarantee if the card doesn't arrive, which factored into my comfort level. Knowing there's a defined path for non-delivery makes the decision less stressful regardless of which one you pick.
