Was choosing between two vendors for a specific state template and developed a comparison process that gave me a confident decision rather than a coin flip. Here is what I looked at.
Recent reviews for the specific state
A vendor with excellent reviews overall but no recent reviews specifically for the state I wanted tells me almost nothing useful about what I will receive. I looked for reviews in the past three months that specifically named my state and described the card received, not just the service experience. One vendor had four such reviews; the other had one. That asymmetry alone was significant information.
Communication test
Before placing an order with either vendor, I messaged both asking a specific question about how they handle the state feature I cared most about. Response time, specificity of answer, and whether the answer showed knowledge of the genuine feature or was generic all informed my assessment. One vendor responded within four hours with a detailed answer. The other responded in two days with a generic "our cards are high quality" reply.
Sample comparison photos
Both vendors had sample photos on their site or in review threads. I found a genuine version of the target state card for visual comparison. Examining the hologram and layout in sample photos against the genuine card narrowed the quality difference between the two vendors further.
Guarantee terms
What happens if the card does not arrive or is wrong? One vendor had a written guarantee policy with specific timelines and outcomes. The other had vague language about "making it right" without specifics. The first vendor's policy gave me more confidence in the post-purchase experience.
I chose the vendor with more state-specific reviews, faster and more knowledgeable communication, better sample photos, and a clearer guarantee. The card I received was exactly what the reviews described.
