Evolved IDs Raising Prices - Still Worth It?

Yeah, I hear you on the price bump. When I first saw the announcement that Evolved IDs was going up by $20, I had the same gut reaction—like, "great, another vendor cashing in." But after going through my last order with them from start to finish, I’ve gotta say, I’m still on board. It’s not just blind loyalty; it’s based on the whole experience from clicking "order" to holding the plastic in my hand.

Let me break down the ordering timeline for my most recent batch. I placed the order on a Tuesday evening, completed payment via BTC (they were super clear about the exact amount down to the satoshi, so no weird rounding losses), and got an automated confirmation within five minutes. The next day, I sent them a quick message through the ticket system to confirm a detail on the template—I wanted the UV back overlay to match a specific state format. Their response came back in about six hours, which I thought was solid for a vendor that's not exactly small-time. That type of turnaround is way better than some of the big name shops where you’re waiting 24+ hours for a "please be patient" copy-paste reply. After that, the order moved into production. I got the "shipped" notification exactly 10 days after ordering, which was right within their stated turnaround window. Then it took 5 days via domestic shipping (priority mail in a plain bubble mailer from a nearby state) to land in my mailbox. So total from order to in-hand: 15 days. That’s about average for Evolved—I’ve had orders take as little as 11 days and as long as 18, but they’ve never ghosted me or gone MIA for weeks like some budget vendors do.

Now, onto packaging stealth because that’s a huge deal for me. The outer envelope was completely generic—white, no return address that raised red flags, just a simple label from a standard postal service. Inside, the IDs were sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard, taped together so they wouldn’t slide around. No bubble wrap, no extra padding, which kept the package nice and thin. Each ID was inside its own individual clear plastic sleeve, and those were stacked together. The really clever part was that they didn't use any branded inserts or tissue paper. It looked exactly like someone shipping a couple of loyalty cards or a cheap gift card order. One of my IDs from them came with a small piece of cardboard that had a scratch-off type surface on it (I think it was leftover from their production process), but nothing that would scream "fake ID." I’ve had packages from other vendors that used excessive tape or oversized boxes, and that’s just asking for customs or postal attention. Evolved keeps it low-key. I never had a problem with domestic delivery, but I’d feel confident about international stealth based on how clean their current packaging is.

Communication-wise, they’re certainly above average. As I mentioned, my ticket was answered in about six hours, and the support agent actually understood what I was asking about—no "send pic" or "can you rephrase" nonsense. They confirmed they’d add the specific UV layer and even sent an update when the order entered production. That level of detail is rare. Most vendors either have canned responses or ghost you after payment. Evolved isn't perfect—they don’t have live chat, and ticket response times can stretch to 12–18 hours during their busy periods (usually right after a promo or around school start dates). But they do respond, and they follow through. I’ve had three orders with them total, and only once did I need to send a follow-up message because my ticket slipped through the cracks. They replied within a day and apologized, which was fine by me.

Now, the VFM (Value for Money) rating. With the $20 increase, I’d still give them a solid 8.5/10. Pre-increase they were a 9.5 in my book. That $20 basically brings them in line with other top-tier vendors who charge similar or slightly more for the same quality. But here’s the thing—you’re paying for consistency. I’ve tried three different budget vendors in the past year (one under $80 and two in the $80–100 range) and every single one had some kind of issue: two had the holo overlay misaligned, one had a color shift that was super obvious under blacklight, and one arrived with a crease down the middle because of poor packaging. Evolved has never given me a dud. The microprint on my latest New Order is crisp, the UV matches my reference state perfectly down to the exact pattern, and the feel passes the bend test without cracking. So when you factor in the cost of a replacement plus shipping from a cheap vendor if it gets confiscated or fails, the extra $20 upfront is actually the cheaper option long-term. You avoid the headache of re-ordering, re-packing, and re-waiting.

Pros and cons time. Pros: Top-tier print quality—details like the ghost image, raised text, and state-specific microlettering are all spot-on. They actually update their templates regularly (my last ID matched the latest state redesign that came out two months prior). The durability is excellent; I’ve had one for over eight months with daily use, and

I feel the same way. The $20 bump stung, but every time I've had a question their customer service responsiveness was on point, and the order process is dead simple. That alone keeps me loyal. I've been burned by cheaper vendors before, so at this point I'd rather pay a bit more for a legit vendor I don't have to worry about.

Honestly the price bump stung at first, but their turnaround time and stealth packaging are why I keep coming back. I pulled the trigger on another order last month and the whole order process was smooth as usual. If they ever slip on shipping speed or support, I'll reconsider, but for now they're still the legit vendor I trust.

Competition is good. If Evolved gets too expensive, people will go elsewhere and they'll have to adjust. For now, they're still worth it in my opinion.

The quality is definitely still there. I got one after the price increase and it's flawless. If you're on a tight budget though, IDGod is still solid and cheaper.
