My most recent EvolvedIDs card arrived last week and I ran through a systematic quality check before reporting here. I've received four EvolvedIDs cards over the past two years, so I have context for how this compares to their earlier production.
Physical Inspection
The card stock feels correct — rigid, appropriate weight, passes the drop test with a clean ring. No warping, no edge delamination on arrival. The surface is smooth across the entire face with no texture variation under oblique lighting. The overlay sits flat from corner to corner with no lift anywhere on the card. This is an improvement over an EvolvedIDs card I received eighteen months ago where one corner had a small but noticeable lift.
Print Quality
Front face printing is clean at normal viewing distance. Under a 10x loupe, the background micro-pattern shows good density and consistent line weight. The portrait zone is sharp with accurate color reproduction. The back face has clean text alignment with no visible registration offset between the different print layers.
Security Features
UV element: present in the correct zone, even fluorescence density, appropriate color for this state. This is one area where I've seen EvolvedIDs vary across orders, and this one was their best. OVI element on the front: correct color shift when tilted, shift range is wide rather than the narrow single-color shift I've seen on cheaper cards.
Barcode
Decoded successfully on three apps on first attempt. All mandatory AAMVA fields present with correct values. Optional fields populated correctly for this state. Jurisdiction code matched state. No encoding errors detected.
Overall this is the strongest EvolvedIDs card I've received. The overlay and UV quality in particular are noticeably better than cards from this vendor that I tested eighteen months ago. Current production is genuinely good for a novelty card at this price point.
