New here, looking to place my first order. What all do I need to have ready?

Hey, welcome to the community! I remember being in your shoes not too long ago. That short post you saw is honestly one of the most important pieces of advice you'll get, but there's a lot more to it, especially for a first timer. So here's what I wish someone had told me from the start.

First things first – research before you order. Spend at least a week reading through the beginner guides and recent reviews. Every vendor has their own quirks, templates vary in quality, and you need to match the state you're in. Key terms you'll see are "template" (the blank card design), "prescan" (a test image sent before printing), "microprint" (tiny text that should look crisp on a real ID), and "UV" (ultraviolet overlay). Know what those mean before you hand over any money.

Next, choose your template wisely. Don't pick a state just because it looks cool. Pick one that's common in your area, has recent OVI (the holographic laminate), and matches your age range. A 21-year-old with a vertical ID from a state that only issues horizontal ones to minors is a dead giveaway.

When you submit your order, take your time. Fill out the order form slowly, double-check every field. Use a dummy email, a VPN, and if possible, pay with Bitcoin or Monero. Don't use your real name or address anywhere except the shipping info, and even there, consider a safe drop location.

Proof review is where the "triple check" really matters. Most vendors send you a digital proof before printing. This is your golden opportunity. Check the photo – good lighting, plain background, no shadows. Check the name spelling, date of birth, height, weight, expiration date – all of it. A single typo like "Dob" instead of "DOB" or a wrong comma can trash the whole thing.

Shipping and handling – once you approve, tracking may or may not be provided. Be patient – most domestic orders take a couple weeks, international can take longer. Don't panic if it's late.

Using it – when it arrives, examine it under regular light, dim light, and a blacklight. Feel the edges for imperfections. Practice swiping it on card readers if you have access to one. And never flash it around unnecessarily.

Now for the safety checklist – these are non-negotiable. Use a separate browser profile or Tor for all ID-related activities. Never discuss orders on social media or with friends. Use a VPN that doesn't keep logs. Pay with crypto, never credit cards or PayPal. Use a fake name for any account you create on forums or vendor sites. Ship to a secure address – a friend's place, a PO box paid in cash, or a package holding service. And never take a photo for the ID that you've posted anywhere online; take a fresh one against a blank wall.

And some common mistakes to watch out for. Typing "South" instead of "S." or leaving out the period – states have specific formats for addresses and names. Copy exactly how it appears on a real driver's license from that state, including abbreviations. Ignoring the "signature" field – some vendors auto-generate a signature that looks fake, ask for a handwritten sample or use a font that mimics it. Not checking your order status or custom messages – some vendors require you to confirm things after payment. Missing that step can delay your order indefinitely. Buying a "pre-made" template without checking if the state has changed its design recently. Three-year-old templates are often outdated. And the biggest one: rushing. The whole process takes mental energy. If you're impatient, you will make mistakes. Take a day between each step if you need to.

So yeah, that "triple check your info" line is the final gate before printing, but there's a whole minefield before you even get there. Read the stickies, ask specific questions, and don't be shy. Everyone here started out as a first timer. Good luck!
