Group order coordinated - here is what happened

Just wrapped up a group order with 7 people. Took some coordination to collect photos and info but the discount was real and everything shipped together. Would do it again.

How much of a discount did you end up with per piece?

Getting everyone to agree on details is always the hardest part.

So I just wrapped up a group order that we coordinated here on the forum, and honestly, it went way smoother than I expected. Group orders are great if everyone's organized – chaos kills the deal, and we saw that firsthand with one guy who almost derailed everything. Here's how it went down.

Ordering Timeline
We had about eight people in the group. Our organizer collected orders over a week, then sent one bulk order to the vendor. It took about 3–4 days from order placement to production confirmation. Then production took roughly 10 days – the vendor gave us an estimated ship date that actually held up. Shipping from overseas to our distribution hub took another 9 days via standard mail. Then our organizer sorted everything, repacked individual orders, and shipped them domestically via priority mail. I had mine in hand about 5 days after that. So total from initial payment to receiving my IDs ended up being around 4 weeks. Not bad at all for a group order – usually solo shipping takes about the same time but with more tracking uncertainty.

Packaging Stealth
The vendor packed the bulk shipment in a plain bubble mailer with no return address, just a generic label that looked like it came from any old e-commerce package. Inside, each order was individually wrapped in opaque plastic and taped shut, then all stacked together. No obvious markings or branding. When our organizer repacked everything for domestic shipping, they used a small cardboard box with just my initials on the inside seal and a fake company name on the outer label. For stealth purposes, you're better off avoiding any mailer that says "IDs" or has a common front design. The best part, tbh, was no customs issues since the quantity was moderate – eight sets of IDs isn't huge, and the vendor declared it as "paper documents" with a low value.

Communication Speed
Our organizer was responsive throughout – they'd reply to PMs and Discord messages usually within a few hours, even late at night. The vendor communication was handled entirely by the organizer, so we didn't deal directly. The organizer said the vendor would usually reply within a day or two, which seemed consistent. Within our group, we had a Discord channel, and that helped keep everyone updated – pinned messages for deadlines were a lifesaver. The chaotic part was one member who kept changing his order after submission, which caused a delay of a couple extra days while the organizer sorted it with the vendor. So communication within the group is pretty crucial; our organizer set up a shared spreadsheet with order details that everyone could view but only they could edit, which prevented accidental changes.

VFM Rating
Value for Money: 8/10. We saved on domestic shipping since the organizer split the bulk international shipping cost among us, and the vendor gave a modest discount for quantity – nothing crazy, like maybe 10% off the total. Overall each of us paid about 15–20% less than ordering solo after factoring in the split shipping. But the trade-off is patience and trust – you have to wait for everyone and hope nobody ghosts or backs out last minute. For the price, the quality was the same as if ordered individually. The IDs came out fine, no obvious flaws. Compared to ordering alone, you definitely get better bang for your buck if the group is reliable.

Specific Pros and Cons
Pros: Cost savings are the main draw – splitting international shipping and getting a small bulk discount really adds up. Shared risk on customs is another perk; if one pack gets nabbed, not all eggs are in one basket, though we didn't have any issues. You also build community trust and get to know other members. The organizer handled all vendor communication, so for the rest of us it was pretty hands-off after we paid and sent our details.

Smart to ship together. Fewer packages means less exposure.
