How I compared two vendors before picking one

Spent about a week doing research before my first order and developed a comparison process that gave me actual confidence in my choice. Here is what worked.

The first thing I did was find at least five recent reviews for each vendor specifically mentioning the state I wanted. Not general reviews — reviews that name the state and describe what the card looked like. I set a 90-day cutoff because vendor quality on specific templates changes over time. Reviews from eight months ago are not reliable for current orders.

Direct communication test

I messaged both vendors with the same question: what generation is their current template for the state I wanted, and what UV features does it include? The quality of the response told me a lot. One vendor replied within six hours with specific answers. The other replied two days later with a generic paragraph that could have applied to any state. The first vendor demonstrated that they actually knew their product. The second demonstrated they were either too busy or too vague to be trusted with details.

Sample photo quality

I found sample photos from both vendors in review threads, specifically under UV light and under angled light showing the hologram. Comparing these against photos of genuine cards for the same state revealed quality differences that were invisible in standard photos. One vendor's hologram showed uneven coverage; the other showed clean edge-to-edge density.

Guarantee policy

Read both vendors' guarantee or reship policy carefully. One had a specific timeline — reship at 30 days, refund at 60 — with no preconditions. The other said "we make it right" without specifics. When payment is irreversible crypto, specific terms matter more than vague reassurances.

I went with the vendor that answered my question specifically, had better hologram photos, and had written guarantee terms. The card I received matched what the reviews described. The research week was worth more than the hour I would have saved by just picking randomly.
