IDBOOK quality has improved significantly

I ordered from IDBOOK about 8 months ago and the quality was decent but not amazing. Just received my second order from them yesterday and WOW - the improvement is night and day. **What improved:** - Template accuracy is way better now, especially the microprinting - Holos are much brighter and more defined - Photoshop work looks professional, no more weird color casts - Card material feels more authentic I got a New York ID this time and compared it to my friend's real NY license. The similarities are incredible. Even the raised text feels right. Shipping was 2.5 weeks which is standard. Communication was responsive. **Price:** $130 with duplicate For anyone who tried IDBOOK before and was disappointed, give them another shot. They definitely stepped up their game. Has anyone else noticed this improvement? What state did you get?

Their New York IDs are definitely solid. The raised text is what sold me. Most vendors can't get that right.

Interesting! I had a really similar experience with IDBOOK about six months back. Ordered an Ohio, and tbh it was just okay — the colors felt a little off, and the microprint wasn't as crisp as I'd hoped. But I've been hearing people say their quality's taken a jump recently, so I'm kind of tempted to roll the dice again.

For context, my timeline back then was pretty standard. I placed the order, got a confirmation within about 24 hours. QC took around 4 days — they sent me a photo of the finished ID and I had to green light it. Then shipping was another 12 days domestic, so total door‑to‑door was maybe 17–18 days. Packaging was decent — came in a plain bubble mailer with no obvious markings, ID itself was sandwiched between two stiff pieces of cardboard inside a standard envelope. No smell, no weird labels. Stealth‑wise, it'd pass a quick glance, but if anyone actually squeezed the envelope they might get suspicious.

Communication was okay — they answered my emails within a day or two, but sometimes the replies felt a bit copy‑pasted. Not rude, just not super personal. For the price point back then I'd say Value For Money was like a 6/10 — you get what you pay for, but there were definitely better options for not much more.

Since then I switched to a different vendor before this latest batch (not gonna name names in case it's against the rules here) but I'm curious if IDBOOK really has stepped it up. Pros from my original order: the holos were decent, the UV looked passable under black light, and the template was pretty accurate overall. Cons: the lamination had a tiny edge peel after a week, the feel was slightly thicker than a real Ohio, and the raised text wasn't quite as pronounced as it should be.

If they've fixed those issues I'd definitely give them another shot. What vendor were you using before you tried them? I'm always looking for comparison points.
