IDSky/Best for East Coast?

posted by repskunk2 6 months ago 557 views 2 comments

Hey, I actually just got my order from IDSky in last week so figured I'd share my full experience since there's not a ton of info on them. I was in the same boat looking specifically for East Coast states and didn't see many reviews, so I took a chance. Here's a breakdown covering everything I can remember.

Ordering Timeline: I placed my order on a Tuesday evening. Payment confirmation came through within a few hours — they use the standard crypto options, no issues there. Processing took about 3 business days, so I got the "shipped" notification on Friday. Then it was standard USPS priority, took roughly 6 days to reach me on the East Coast. So total from order to mailbox was about 10 days. No holiday delays or anything weird, pretty smooth.

Packaging Stealth: It came in a plain white bubble mailer with no return address, just a generic printed label. Inside, the IDs were taped between two pieces of cardboard so they wouldn't bend during transit. No extra inserts, no business cards, no obvious external markings that would scream "ID order." Just looked like a regular piece of junk mail. Stealth level is solid for domestic shipping, nothing that would raise eyebrows if a roommate or parent grabbed it first.

Communication Speed: I had a few questions before ordering about state-specific templates for NC and FL. I used their contact form and got a reply within 24 hours both times. Nothing super detailed, just confirming they do those states and gave general turnaround times. After ordering, I didn't reach out again since everything was on track, but the initial responses were prompt and professional enough.

Quality & East Coast Specifics: I ordered North Carolina and Florida. The template accuracy is pretty solid — the colors on both match what I've seen from real DMV samples online. Microprint is there, though you need a loupe to read it clearly. The holos catch light well and aren't overly reflective. Mag stripe feels fine, but I haven't tested it on any scanner so can't speak to that. The feel is a bit on the thicker side compared to a real state-issued ID, but it passes the bend test without snapping. The UV on the NC one is crisp but could be brighter, while the FL UV pattern looks accurate.

VFM Rating: I'd give it a solid 7/10 for value. The price is middle of the pack — not the cheapest out there but not overpriced either. The quality is good for the price point, especially for East Coast states that some other vendors mess up. You get what you pay for, and I think it's a fair deal if you need something functional for casual use.

Pros: Template accuracy was solid for the states I ordered, turnaround time was decent, packaging stealth was good, and communication was responsive. The microprint and holos are above average for this price tier. Also a plus that they actually had multiple East Coast options in stock without needing a group order or custom request.

Cons: The back overlay on one of my IDs is slightly off-center by maybe a millimeter — not noticeable at a glance but a nitpick if you're anal. UV could be brighter. No duplicates unless you specifically order multiples, so you're stuck with one per state. Also, the thickness feels a little off compared to real IDs, but that's common with a lot of vendors at this level.

Overall, if you're looking for East Coast states and don't want to gamble on some of the shadier options, IDSky is worth considering. Not perfect but definitely usable for most situations. Hope that helps anyone else on the fence.
