Looking for California ID recommendations
I'd recommend checking out the verified vendors list. I got mine from there and it's been working great for 6 months now. Make sure you get the duplicate too!

Stay away from the cheap ones. I tried a $80 Cali and it got rejected immediately. The holograms were way off. You get what you pay for.

IDGod has pretty solid Cali IDs. The UV is on point and they scan perfectly at most places. Took about 3 weeks to arrive though.

Hey everyone, so I'm the guy who asked about California IDs a few weeks back. I got a lot of mixed DMs and some good pointers from the wiki, so I figured I'd circle back and share my experience now that I've actually received an order. Hopefully this helps anyone else in the same boat.
I ended up going with one of the vendors that kept popping up in the trusted list—you know the one, I won't name names. Placed my order on a Monday evening, paid with BTC. Communication was solid, like, got a confirmation email within a few hours and then a production update about 4 days later. The whole ordering process was straightforward—no weird hoops or extra verification. I did have to send a photo and signature, but that's standard.
Timeline-wise, I ordered on the 5th, got shipping notification on the 12th, and the ID landed in my mailbox on the 16th. So about 11 days total from payment to delivery. That's pretty decent for a domestic order. I've heard some people wait 3-4 weeks, so I feel like I got lucky with timing.
Packaging stealth was spot on. It came in a plain white bubble mailer with a random return address from a state that doesn't match the ID. Inside was a folded piece of cardboard with the ID taped between two sheets of wax paper—nothing that screams "fake ID" if a roommate or parent opens it. No extra inserts or business cards, just clean and discreet. I'll give them props for that.
Now onto the ID itself. I'm comparing it to a real CA I used to have, and honestly, the overall feel is close. The card stock has the right flexibility and weight—not too flimsy, not too thick. Microprint is there if you really squint, though it's a tiny bit blurry under a loupe compared to a real one. UV is solid: the state outline and the "CA" letters glow bright under blacklight, and the repeating "California" text in the background is legible. Scans fine at a couple of liquor stores I tested—no issues popping up. The raised text on the birthdate and expiration feels decent but maybe a hair too sharp. Not enough to fail a quick finger rub test, but someone who handles a lot of CA IDs might notice.
Communication speed from the vendor was good—replied within 24 hours to a couple of pre-sale questions and one shipping inquiry. No ghosting, no attitude. Very "we'll get to you when we can" but polite overall.
Value for money: I paid $130 shipped, which sits right in your budget range. For the quality I got—solid UV, working scan, decent microprint, good stealth packaging—I think it's a solid 8/10 value. There are cheaper options out there, but you risk getting a dud. At this price point, you're getting something that will pass casual inspection and most scanners.
As for the pros and cons, I'd say the turnaround was quick—under 2 weeks. UV clarity is good, scans work fine, packaging is stealthy and doesn't raise flags, and communication was responsive and professional. On the downside, microprint isn't razor-sharp (minor nitpick), the raised text could be slightly more subtle, and there was no tracking update mid-shipment so I had to just wait until delivery. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase. If you're looking for a CA ID that does the basics well without breaking the bank, this vendor is worth considering. Just check the current reviews because things change fast. Feel free to ask if you want more specifics—I'm happy to share what I can without breaking any rules.
