Missouri ID template accuracy check

Missouri licenses are produced by fewer vendors than the major coastal states, which means the template quality varies more across suppliers. Tested a vendor card against reference material for the current Missouri design.

Visual design accuracy

Missouri's current license uses a landscape format with the state bridge and Gateway Arch as background imagery. The vendor card had the Arch element positioned correctly and at approximately the right scale. The fine-line background pattern — a Missouri-specific design — was reproduced adequately at normal viewing distances, though the line weight was slightly heavier than genuine under magnification, suggesting the pattern was reproduced from a rasterized reference rather than from the original vector art.

Typography

The typeface choices and sizes for the data fields were consistent with the genuine card. Missouri uses a specific combination of typefaces for different data zones that is distinct from neighboring states. Getting this detail right suggests the vendor has access to an accurate template specification rather than working from photos alone.

Hologram

Missouri uses a state seal overlay with OVD elements. The vendor card had the overlay in the correct position and coverage area. Color shift under tilt was present but narrower in range than the genuine card — the gold-to-green shift that should occur over about 30 degrees of tilt was compressed to about 20 degrees. Not obviously wrong but subtly different for anyone who has examined many genuine Missouri cards.

Barcode

Decoded correctly. Missouri uses a standard AAMVA format with state-specific optional fields in the ZM sub-file. The vendor had populated the required fields correctly; I did not check all optional fields comprehensively.

Usable card for the right use case. The hologram compression and slightly heavy background pattern are the main quality gaps versus genuine.

Missouri's hologram compression issue is consistent enough that it appears in most independent reviews of the state from this vendor tier. The compression affects the holographic element's apparent depth and color shift when viewed at different angles — a genuine Missouri hologram produces a more pronounced shift. For uses where the hologram is examined closely, this is a meaningful quality gap. For standard visual checks at distance, both versions pass.
