Monero payment on IDGod site

I've been using Monero to pay on IDGod for about eight months now and this writeup covers what the payment experience actually looks like in practice, since the guides I found before my first order were either outdated or too vague on the specifics.

When you reach the payment screen on IDGod, the site generates a unique Monero address for that order. The address is displayed alongside a QR code and an invoice expiration timer — in my experience the timer runs for about two hours, which is more than enough time to complete a Monero transaction at standard priority. Copy the address manually from the text rather than relying only on the QR if you're on a desktop; QR scanning adds a step and occasionally fails if your camera setup is awkward.

Transaction confirmation times vary depending on network conditions and the fee tier you choose in your wallet. I use Cake Wallet and set fee priority to "normal" for IDGod orders. Confirmation has taken between eighteen and forty minutes across my recent transactions. The IDGod order page polls for payment status automatically — I've never had to manually trigger a status refresh. Once the payment is confirmed on-chain, the order status updates to "payment received" within a few minutes.

One thing that confused me early on: the amount displayed on the IDGod invoice is in USD, but you're sending XMR. Your wallet will calculate the equivalent at current exchange rate, but the exchange rate can shift between when you start the order and when you send the payment. I've had the amounts match cleanly every time, but in a volatile period you might want to check that the XMR amount your wallet is proposing actually covers the USD invoice amount before confirming the send.

I've never had a payment fail to register on IDGod when I followed this process. The few problems I've heard about in community threads tend to involve people sending from exchange wallets rather than self-custody wallets, or sending an incorrect amount because of the USD-to-XMR conversion confusion. Use a self-custody wallet, confirm the XMR amount, and the process is smooth.
