Package Stuck in Transit for 2 Weeks - Should I Worry?

posted by Spike 9 months ago 1,262 views 6 comments

My order from IDGod has been "in transit" for almost 2 weeks now with no updates. Tracking just shows it left the origin country and nothing since.

Timeline:

  • Ordered: December 4th
  • Marked as shipped: December 10th
  • Last tracking update: December 13th ("Departed origin country")
  • Today: December 26th - still no updates

Is this normal for international shipping? Or should I be concerned it's lost/seized?

I know international orders take time but 2+ weeks in transit with no updates seems like a long time. Anyone have experience with this?

Also keep in mind it's the holiday season. Customs is backed up everywhere. Give it another week before worrying.

Mine took 3.5 weeks total with IDGod. No tracking updates for 2 weeks, then it just showed up one day. International shipping around the holidays is always slower.

If you're really concerned, open a ticket with IDGod. They can usually tell you if there's an actual problem or if it's just slow tracking.

Yeah, I've been through this exact situation with IDGod orders multiple times. First thing - don't stress too much, this is pretty standard for their shipping. The tracking they use is notoriously unreliable, tbh, pretty much because they're shipping via budget carriers like China Post or sometimes a triangular route through Hong Kong. The tracking numbers often don't update consistently once the package leaves China, and I've literally had orders that showed zero scans until they were out for delivery.

As for transit hubs, your package probably went through a major Chinese sort facility like Shenzhen or Guangzhou before getting loaded onto a slow boat or economy air freight. From what I've seen, IDGod pretty much always uses the cheapest shipping tier to keep costs down, which means your pack is likely crossing the Pacific on a container vessel right now. That alone can take 10-14 days. After that it hits a regional distribution center in your country and then just sits in customs. Customs is the biggest black hole, tbh - I've had packages show no updates for two full weeks and then suddenly land in my mailbox with no scans in between.

Packaging wise, IDGod is pretty good about discreet and durable shipping. They'll usually use a plain bubble mailer or a small unpadded envelope with the IDs wrapped in cardboard or paper to prevent bending. I've never had a package arrive damaged from them, even with the long journey and rough handling through international logistics. They definitely know how to keep things intact, that's for sure.

Customs observations: Honestly, this is where most of the delay happens. Depending on your country's customs workload, your package could be sitting in a warehouse for a week or more just waiting for inspection. Since these are novelty IDs and the packaging is discreet, they usually pass through fine - but scanning during that stage is pretty much non-existent. Don't expect any updates until it clears and hits the local delivery network.

Overall shipping-speed assessment: IDGod orders usually take anywhere from 10 days to 4 weeks. Two weeks stuck in transit is totally normal and nothing to worry about yet. I've had tracking say "in transit" for 20 days straight before suddenly updating to "delivered". Their tracking system is pretty much useless past the initial "shipped" scan. Honestly best advice is to just forget about it and check your mailbox every few days. If it doesn't show up after a full month, then maybe start worrying. But for now, it's almost certainly fine.

That's somewhat reassuring. How long did yours take total?

Okay, I'll be patient. Just getting anxious since I need it before I go back to school in January. Thanks for the perspectives!
