Bought a UV flashlight to test my ID before using it. Everything shows up correctly.

The UV features are in the right places and glow the right colors

Good point. I was amazed how much cleaner the UV details look now compared to the old ones. Make sure you check it under a 365nm UV light though — that's key for seeing the real depth. I also noticed the ghost image pop way better with proper wavelength. But some still have mild UV bleeds along the edges on certain states. Worth inspecting with both 365 and 395 before trusting it fully.

Yeah, I totally agree – the UV on newer templates is night and day compared to the old ones. Honestly, I remember when the UV was just this flat, washed-out patch with no detail. Now they're actually nailing the invisible ink details pretty close to the real thing. The microtext and fine line work under UV are crisp, and the color shift when you hit it with 365nm vs 395nm is noticeable – it's a huge step up in UV detail accuracy. The activation wavelength is properly matched now, so the whole design lights up evenly instead of having dark spots or bleeding edges. You can even see the secondary state-specific artwork that used to be completely missing.

But it's not just the UV – the whole package has gotten better. Take the hologram overlay construction on these newer runs – it uses a much thicker laminate that doesn't separate as easily along the edges. The window alignment is tighter, and the holo pattern itself has more depth – the images actually move smoothly when you tilt it instead of just blurring out into a mess. You can see multiple layers of diffraction with clear image switches, and the state seal really pops without being too reflective. The ghost image clarity is also way sharper. In the past, the ghost image would look like a smudge or a bad photocopy, but now you can make out the finer facial features and the resolution matches the primary photo pretty well. The ghost is also in the correct position relative to the main image – not offset several millimeters like before. That was always a dead giveaway for me, tbh, so seeing that improve makes me feel more confident about passing a quick visual check under a bright light.

Honestly, perforation pattern quality is another area that's come a long way. The holes are more uniform in

Good idea. I tested mine before going out the first time too
