The single biggest source of first-order frustration is not bad vendors or poor quality — it is unrealistic expectations about what novelty ID cards are and what they can do. Here is an honest picture.
What you will get
A card that visually resembles a genuine state driver's license. The better vendors produce cards that pass casual to moderate inspection, with correctly formatted barcodes, appropriate UV features, and reasonable physical construction. The quality range across vendors is wide, and at the upper end of the market, cards are genuinely impressive pieces of work.
What you will not get is a perfect replica that is indistinguishable from a genuine card under any level of scrutiny. Every vendor card has details that differ from the genuine article — some minor, some more significant. The question is whether those differences matter for your intended use.
Delivery timelines
Standard delivery from international vendors to the US takes 14 to 25 days under normal conditions. Express options can be faster but are still not guaranteed. Building your plans around a specific delivery date is risky. Build them around a range that starts a week after the vendor's estimate and extends two weeks beyond that.
Vendor communication
Most vendors respond to support messages within 24 to 72 hours. Some are faster; some are slower. Sending multiple messages because you did not get a response in four hours will not speed things up and may actually slow them down if it creates a cluttered ticket history.
The learning curve
First orders almost always reveal something you wish you had done differently — a photo detail, a state choice, a feature you did not think to verify before ordering. This is normal. The information from a first order, even an imperfect one, makes subsequent orders significantly better. Approach the first order as a learning experience and you will be less disappointed by any minor issues that arise.
