Bitcoin fees are insane right now - Alternative payment methods?

posted by dick169 9 months ago 952 views 5 comments
Trying to place an order with IDGod but the Bitcoin transaction fees are ridiculous. I'm paying $18 in fees just to send $120 worth of BTC. That's a 15% markup on top of the already expensive ID price. Are there any vendors that accept payment methods with lower fees? I know some take: - Cashapp - Zelle - Litecoin - Ethereum What are you guys using to avoid these crazy BTC fees? Or is there a way to send Bitcoin with lower fees that I'm missing?

Yeah, BTC fees have been brutal lately. I've been using Litecoin when I have to—network fees are way lower and transactions are fast. Also, for domestic vendors, Zelle payment method is clutch since there's zero fees attached. Just make sure you don't use Coinbase to send directly to a vendor; it's a red flag for them. A group buy can help split costs too if you're going in with friends. Honestly, anything over 5% in fees is a rip-off.

If you have to use Bitcoin, use SegWit addresses and send during off-peak hours (weekends). Can sometimes get fees down to $5-8 instead of $18. But yeah, Litecoin is the move.

For domestic vendors like OISF you can use Cashapp or Zelle directly. No crypto fees at all. That's another reason to stick with domestic vendors - easier payment options.

Didn't even think about Litecoin, good call. Just checked and IDGod does accept it. Switching to LTC for this order. Thanks!

Use Litecoin instead! Transaction fees are like $0.10 max. Most vendors accept it including IDGod. Just buy LTC on Coinbase or whatever exchange you use, fees are way cheaper.
