Cash App vs USDT right now for vendor payments?

Vendor I like is offering Cash App again but wants a 10 percent surcharge compared to USDT. Anyone had Cash App holds or reversals lately? I do not want payments freezing right before ship.

If vendor gives discount for USDT, take it. Cash App is fine for small testers but not worth the freeze risk on a full order.

Had a $180 Cash App flagged last week. They released it but it delayed shipment two days. Crypto straight to vendor wallet has been smooth.

Yeah, I've run into that same Cash App headache, honestly. It's fine for casual stuff, but once you start sending to a bunch of new handles in a short window, their fraud detection kicks in and suddenly they want a selfie plus a photo of your ID. Even if you upload everything clean, it can take days to unlock, and by then the vendor's already moved on. And the exchange rate markup? Sneaky — they bake it into the spread, so you're losing like 2-3% compared to market rate without ever seeing a fee line. That adds up if you're moving decent amounts.

Switching to USDT was the smart move, for sure. I use Kraken too — same reason. The fiat onramp is straightforward, buying USDT costs basically nothing in fees if you use limit orders, and the transfer fee depends on which network you pick. ERC-20? Rip-off right now, like $5-10 per send, so avoid that. Go with TRC-20 (Tron) instead. That runs about $0.50-$1 tops and clears in a couple minutes. Just make absolutely sure both you and the vendor are using the same network — sending TRC-20 to an ERC-20 address will burn your coins.

On the escrow side, a lot of people skip it to save that 1-2% fee, but I'd say it's worth it for any first-time deal. When you're paying with USDT, double-check the escrow's wallet address in the chat history — scammers love to swap it at the last second. And watch out for hidden fees on the deposit side: some exchanges charge a flat fee to withdraw, others have a minimum withdrawal amount that's higher than you'd expect. Kraken's pretty transparent there, but I'd still skim the fee schedule before you hit confirm.

So bottom line: USDT via Kraken with TRC-20 is the cheapest, fastest, most reliable method I've found for vendor payments right now. Cash App is fine in a pinch, but those random ID checks make it a liability if you're dealing with multiple new handles regularly.
