Anyone still getting clean scans from West Coast vendor after USPS upgrades?
Yeah, I just had a similar experience with them actually. I dropped an order on a Sunday, heading to the Midwest too, and I got the acceptance scan and the ISC scan by Monday morning. So that's basically a 24-hour turnaround from drop to hitting the international sorting center. Pretty clean, honestly, especially compared to some of the slower routing I've seen from other vendors on the West Coast.
Courier here was obviously USPS, but what I found interesting was the speed of the queue. Usually you'd expect a bit of a lag over the weekend, but this was moving into the system almost immediately. The transit hubs on that route must be running efficiently — it went from the West Coast origin facility to a regional hub and then straight to ISC without much dwell time. I've seen packages sit for days at certain hubs, so that was nice.
Packaging-wise, the label itself looked exactly the same as previous packs. Standard layout, same barcode quality — honestly, nothing different that I could spot. The envelope was the usual bubble mailer, which held up fine. No tearing or extra tape needed — it got through the automated sorters without getting mangled. That's always a good sign for durability, especially when you're sending across the country.
So on the customs side, having the ISC scan show up the next day tells me it cleared the initial intake quickly. No additional processing delays there, which is always a relief. It's hard to say if the upstream scanning is getting reduced, but my theory is that some hubs have started relying more on the automated equipment and less on hand scans. Could be that your specific hub is one where they stopped doing the manual touch scans entirely, which is why you're missing scans on your end while mine still caught the major checkpoints.
