Dollar-cost averaging into crypto for orders
I've done this before for a couple group buy orders and honestly DCA works fine if you're patient, but check litecoin network fees before you bother—they fluctuate and sometimes it's not worth it over just paying with BTC in one shot. Pro tip: keep your bitcoin transaction ID saved somewhere, you'll need it if there's a dispute later.

Started buying small amounts of Monero weekly rather than buying a lump sum right before each order. The change has reduced my per-order cost and removed the timing stress from the purchasing process.
The problem with lump-sum purchasing
When you need to pay for an order today, you buy crypto at today's price regardless of whether it is a good time to buy. If Bitcoin or Monero is at a local high, you pay the peak price. If it has just dipped, you get a good rate. Over time, these variations even out somewhat, but in the short term a large purchase at a bad price feels painful, particularly when the crypto value drops further after you buy it.
Dollar-cost averaging
Buying a fixed dollar amount ($20 to $30 is enough for one order per month) on a weekly schedule smooths out price fluctuations. Over a year of weekly purchases, your average cost per unit of crypto ends up close to the time-weighted average price rather than clustering around whatever price happened to be current when you had an urgent purchase need.
Practical setup
Set a calendar reminder to buy on a specific day each week. The purchase takes five to ten minutes on any exchange that supports your crypto of choice. Transfer each purchase to cold storage immediately rather than leaving it on the exchange. When you need to pay a vendor, you pull the needed amount from cold storage to a hot wallet.
The practical result
After six months of weekly Monero purchases, I had enough on hand for three orders without needing to buy anything on order day. My average cost over that period was lower than what I would have paid buying at order time during the same period. The psychological benefit of not thinking about price when I need to pay is worth as much as the financial efficiency.
