Group order discounts - how many people needed?

posted by jersey1000 10 months ago 766 views 6 comments
Me and my friends (6 of us total) are thinking about doing a group order to save money. Do most vendors offer group discounts? What's the typical discount percentage? Also, how does it work logistically? Does one person place the order for everyone or does each person order separately and just mention it's a group? And what about shipping - do they ship all 6 IDs to one address or can they split it up? Trying to figure out if it's worth coordinating a group order or if we should just order individually.

I did a group order of 8 people last month. Got 20% off from the vendor. We all shipped to my address and I distributed them. Saved everyone about $25 each.

Nice! Which vendor did you use? And were you worried about having 8 fake IDs shipped to your house?

Yeah, honestly that's pretty much how it goes with most vendors. The 4+ minimum is the most common threshold, but I've seen some start discounts at 3 people and others that stick at 5 or 6. The 15-20% off is realistic for a solid group deal—the coordinator usually gets the biggest cut since they're handling all the communication and shipping logistics.

For pricing context, a single ID these days runs anywhere from $80 to $120 depending on complexity. With a group discount you're looking at roughly $65-$95 per piece, which adds up quick when you've got a squad ordering together. But keep in mind that the discount percentage varies by vendor and order size—some cap it at 15% no matter how many you bring, others go up to 25% for larger groups.

If you're thinking of organizing one, here are a few practical tips. On cryptocurrency fees: if you're paying with Bitcoin, network fees can eat into your savings. I'd recommend using Litecoin or Monero instead—way lower transaction fees and faster confirmations. Also, if the group is pooling funds to pay in one crypto transaction, make sure the coordinator estimates the network fee ahead of time and splits it evenly, or covers it themselves and takes that out of the discount.

Escrow is another big one, honestly. If you're the coordinator and you're collecting cash or crypto from others before placing the order, you're basically acting as a middleman. A trusted escrow service can protect everyone—some forums offer that, or you can use a third-party escrow if the vendor supports it. Never just hand over your full payment without some kind of protection, even if you trust the group.

Hidden fees are the sneaky part, for sure. Some vendors charge separate shipping per person on top of the group discount, especially if each person wants their order sent to a different address. Others add "reshipping" fees if a pack gets flagged. And don't forget—the coordinator might tack on a small fee for their time and risk. Totally fair, but make sure everyone agrees beforehand so there's no drama later.

Used IDGod. And yeah slightly nervous but they ship discreetly. Came in a regular envelope, no issues. Just don't ship to a dorm address.

Pro tip: Make sure everyone pays YOU first before you place the order. Don't front the money and then try to collect. Trust me on this lol
