Is it safe to ship to my dorm address?

posted by pennyheaad 9 months ago 1,059 views 5 comments
I'm a college freshman and want to order a fake ID but I'm nervous about shipping it to my dorm. **My concerns:** 1. Does campus mail get inspected by security? 2. Will they open packages if they look suspicious? 3. Should I use my real name or a fake name? 4. What if my roommate gets the package first? 5. Is it safer to ship to a friend's off-campus apartment? **My situation:** - Large state university - Traditional dorm with central mail room - Show ID to pick up packages - Campus is pretty strict about rules **What I've heard:** - Some people say dorms are totally fine - Others say campus police sometimes check packages - One friend said his package got "lost" (suspicious) I'm probably overthinking this but I don't want to get in trouble or have my ID confiscated before I even get it. Anyone have experience shipping to college dorms? What's the safest approach?

Pro tip: Track your package and try to pick it up as soon as it arrives so you don't have to worry about a roommate or RA seeing it. Most vendors give you tracking info.

If you're really paranoid, use a friend's off-campus address. But honestly dorms are fine. The mail room staff doesn't care what you're getting, they process hundreds of packages daily.

Thanks everyone! I feel a lot better about it now. Going to order to my dorm using my real name. I'll track it closely and grab it ASAP when it arrives.

Most vendors ship in discreet packaging anyway. It'll just look like any other online purchase. I wouldn't stress about it. Thousands of students get IDs shipped to dorms every month.

I've ordered to my dorm 3 times with no issues. They don't open your packages - that's illegal without a warrant. As long as it's not drugs, you're fine. Use your real name and student ID.
