Mailbox vs front door delivery preference

I've been ordering these novelty IDs for a while now, and I wanted to share my thoughts on the whole mailbox vs front door delivery debate. I think a lot of people overlook some key factors when deciding which method to go with, so here's my experience from multiple orders.

First off, courier choice matters a lot. In my experience, USPS is the safest bet if you're going for mailbox delivery. They handle small parcels like standard mail, and their carriers are used to stuffing things into residential mailboxes. FedEx and UPS typically won't put anything in a mailbox unless it's a very small envelope, and even then they sometimes leave it at the door. If you choose a courier that explicitly does mailbox drops, you're golden. But if you're stuck with a courier that only does door delivery, you have to account for that in your shipping setup. I've also seen some vendors offer DHL eCommerce which often ends up handed off to the local post office for the final mile — that's practically mailbox delivery with better tracking.

I've tracked packages through major transit hubs — usually something like a regional distribution center in the Midwest or a big sorting facility on the East Coast. The cool thing about mailbox delivery is

I’m definitely on team mailbox too. A lot of it is about the paranoid feeling of a package just sitting out — a mailbox drop feels safer. And if you somehow get a tracking number update saying it landed in the mailbox, even better. You can just check it whenever rather than babysitting your front step all day. I’ve had a couple close calls with porch pirates even when the parcel delivery status said delivered, so mailbox all the way for peace of mind.

Yeah, I'm with you on mailbox all day. Less chance of someone seeing the package sitting out, and honestly, I don't have to plan my whole day around being home. Plus, it's way more discreet if you're in a shared building or have nosy neighbors. Front door feels too exposed — not something you want the whole street knowing about.

Yeah, I've gone with door delivery a few times and never had a problem. They just drop it off like any other package, y'know? Unless you're in a high-traffic area, I honestly don't see the big deal. Mailbox feels safer, sure, but door works just fine.

I've been using a PO box for a while now, and honestly, it's definitely the way to go for privacy. No worrying about nosy neighbors or porch pirates. Plus, it keeps everything separate from my regular mail. The only downside is having to pick it up, but worth it for peace of mind, tbh.
