Middleman scams - always go direct
The fee to connect you is money for zero value. Do not pay it.
Honestly, I can't stress this enough — direct ordering is always the right approach. Over the years I've watched too many people get burned by middlemen, and it's almost always the same pattern. The middleman promises you a "connection" to a reputable vendor, takes your payment, and either ghosts you or sends something that looks nothing like the vendor's actual product. Then when you try to complain, they blame the vendor — but the vendor never even got your order.
So what are the red flags you should watch for? If someone insists on being a middleman, that's your first red flag. There's no legitimate reason to use a middleman with reputable vendors — they handle their own orders, period. Another huge red flag, honestly, is when the middleman asks for payment through non-refundable methods like crypto, then demands additional fees for "shipping insurance" or "customs clearance" after you've already paid. That's a classic rinse-and-repeat scam — they'll keep milking you until you cut your losses.
The scam pattern is pretty much always the same. The middleman offers you a discount or a "special deal" that seems too good to be true. They claim they can get you the same quality for less, like they buy in bulk or have a "direct line to the factory." They rush you, telling you the price is only good for a limited time. They avoid giving you any direct contact with the actual vendor. Once you pay, communication slows down or stops. If you start asking questions, they get defensive or come up with excuses about "delays." Eventually you're left with nothing — or worse, a low-quality product that doesn't match the pictures.
So how do you protect yourself? It's simple — go direct. Check the vendor's website or forum presence, and look for a clear ordering process with no intermediary. If anyone tells you they can "help you place an order" with a reputable vendor, run. Real vendors don't need middlemen. Use community-verified contact info, and never trust a middleman's referral link or forwarded message. If the price seems too good, it's a trap. And if someone pushes you to pay quickly or in an unusual way, that's your cue to walk away.
At the end of the day, the only person you should be paying is the actual producer. Cut out the middleman and you cut out the risk. Stay sharp out there.
Any middleman worth using would just be a vendor themselves. Think about that.
People occasionally offer to connect you with a vendor for a fee. This is almost never legitimate. Reputable vendors take direct orders. A middleman adds cost, delay, and another person who knows your business. Go direct every time.
