WARNING: FakeYourID.com is a scam

posted by chug1t 10 months ago 4,446 views 3 comments
DO NOT order from FakeYourID.com! I sent $150 in BTC three weeks ago and got nothing. No responses to emails, their "support chat" is always offline. Checked their BTC address and they've received tons of payments but no one is reporting received orders. They're not on the verified list - I should have checked first. Learn from my mistake!

Pinned this warning to help others. Also added to the scam list in the wiki. Sorry for your loss but thanks for reporting it - you probably saved others from the same fate.

Yeah, I'm seconding everything OP said. FakeYourID.com is another one of those sites that pops up, looks slick, promises lightning-fast shipping and "unbeatable" quality, and then either takes your money and ghosts you, or sends you a piece of trash that gets pulled on the first glance. Honestly, we see this pattern over and over – new domain, flashy site, zero actual history on any reputable forum.

So, red flags to watch for – they almost always offer discounts for "first-time buyers" or "bulk orders" that seem way too good to be true. They'll have a bunch of "customer reviews" on their own site, but you'll never find a single real review on a trusted independent forum or sub. Plus, they don't take crypto in a way that gives you any buyer protection – no escrow, no multi-sig. Payment methods are usually sketchy – like direct bank transfer or random gift cards. And if you DM them asking for a sample or a test scan, they either ignore you or get defensive.

Another classic scam move – they'll post a voucher code on Reddit or Twitter claiming "50% OFF FOR NEXT 24 HOURS". That urgency is designed to make you skip the research step. Don't fall for it. If it's not on the verified list, it's not verified. Period. The list is there because people have already been burned by the ones that aren't on it.

To protect yourself, always search the vendor name plus "scam" or "review" on the forums before even visiting their site. Look for scam reports with dates – if everyone reporting is from the same two-week period, that's a classic exit scam pattern where they take a bunch of orders then vanish. If a vendor doesn't have a presence on the trusted forums with a track record of at least a few months and consistent feedback, don't touch it. Sorry to the person who got hit by FakeYourID – it sucks, but hopefully this thread stops the next ten people from making the same move.

These scam sites pop up all the time with similar names to legit vendors. Always check the exact URL and verify on the trusted list before sending any money.
