Package marked delivered but nothing here

posted by kanyesvest 8 months ago 745 views 6 comments

USPS shows delivered yesterday but I never got it. Already checked with neighbors and front desk.

Has this happened to anyone else? Should I wait or contact support?

Hate that feeling. I'd give it until tomorrow morning before panicking — sometimes the parcel delivery status updates before the actual drop. Check around your porch, side door, or even with neighbors if you've got a shared mailbox situation. If it's still nowhere after 24-48hrs, definitely reach out. I've had one show up two days later because it got mixed up in transit hub processing and never made it on the truck. Patience sucks, but it usually resolves itself.

Yeah that sucks, had this happen to me a few months back. The parcel delivery status flipped to delivered but it was still sitting at the transit hub processing for two more days — driver just pre-scanned to hit their quota. I checked my neighbors' porches and even the mailbox before filing. Gave it a full day, then messaged the seller with my tracking number update snapshot. They resent it, and that second one arrived fine. Don't stress too much yet, but definitely keep all your tracking history screenshots.

Oh man, I’ve been there — that sinking feeling when you see "Delivered" on the tracking but there's nothing at your door. It happens more often than you'd think, especially with certain couriers. Honestly, in my experience, USPS is notorious for pre-scanning packages as delivered when they're actually still sitting in a sorting facility or out for delivery. I've had it happen with UPS too, but FedEx seems a little better about only scanning when the driver actually drops it off.

A lot of times it's just a delay at a major transit hub — like a regional distribution center near you. The package might've been scanned into a truck but not actually unloaded yet, or the driver marked it delivered at the end of their route to hit a performance metric. I've learned to wait a full 24 to 48 hours before panicking. Nine times out of ten it shows up the next day or even later that evening.

Packaging durability can play a role too. I mean, if the box is flimsy or poorly sealed, it might get damaged in transit and end up in a "problem" pile, which screws up scanning. I always reinforce corners with extra tape and use sturdy boxes — bubble mailers get eaten alive by sorting machines. Customs can also add weird tracking quirks if it's an international order. Sometimes a package will be marked delivered at a customs facility even though it hasn't cleared yet, then actually hits your door days later.

Overall, shipping speed these days is kind of a crapshoot. Standard ground takes longer than it used to, and even priority services get hung up in hubs. My rule of thumb: if it says delivered but nothing's there, give it another day or two. Check with neighbors, look behind bushes, and if it still hasn't shown up after 48 hours, then start the missing mail claim. More often than not, it's just the courier's scanner being ahead of the actual delivery.

Same thing happened to me last month. Turned out mailman put it in wrong mailbox. Check with your post office too

If nothing after 48hrs def contact support with your order number. They usually sort it out quick

Check any bushes or hidden spots near your door. USPS drivers sometimes hide packages weird places
