Sent payment 2 hours ago, no confirmation yet. Is this normal?

Depends on network congestion. Usually confirmed within a few hours

Yeah, definitely agree with this. Pretty much 24 hours is the safe bet, but it really depends on what's going on with the network. I've had confirmations land in under an hour when the mempool was empty, and I've also waited nearly two days during one of those congestion spikes a while back. A big factor these days is the fee you attach. If you go with the default "economy" or "low priority" setting on your wallet, you're basically gambling that traffic stays low. I usually check a mempool monitor site before sending, and bump the fee to somewhere in the middle of the recommended range. Anything too low risks getting stuck for hours or even dropping out entirely.

Tbh, one thing that's saved me more than once is using a wallet that supports RBF (Replace-by-Fee). That way if I accidentally set the fee too low, I can bump it up after the fact instead of just sitting there hoping it goes through. Honestly, don't rely on exchanges or third-party payment processors to handle your fees correctly either — they often take a cut and leave you with a low-fee transaction. Also, try to use SegWit addresses if the vendor supports them — they're smaller, process faster, and the fees are lower for the same priority level.

Honestly, on the payment safety side, always use escrow if it's offered. Even a vendor with a perfect track record can have a bad week, and escrow protects both sides from delivery disputes. If someone asks you to pay directly to a wallet with no escrow and no transaction history to back it up, stay away. And watch out for hidden fees — some resellers or intermediaries add a flat service fee or a percentage on top of the base price, so always ask for a full breakdown before sending coin. Things like exchange purchase fees, withdrawal fees, and network fees can eat into your budget fast if you're not careful.

Pricing context matters too, you know? You'll see a wide range depending on where you're shopping. Usually the really cheap stuff is kind of hit or miss, while a mid-range price point tends to be the sweet spot for quality without overpaying. Just don't assume that like, paying more guarantees faster shipping or better stealth — that's not always the case. So yeah, bottom line: plan ahead, check the mempool, use a solid wallet, and expect up to 24 hours. If it clears sooner, bonus.
