Scam attempt reported - update
Quick update on that scam attempt I mentioned the other day. For anyone who hasn't seen it yet — someone reached out pretending to be from the support team, but they were using a completely unofficial channel. Honestly, that's the biggest red flag right there: legit support will never reach out to you first over DM, Telegram, WhatsApp, or anything off-site. If you get an unsolicited message claiming to be "helping you resolve an issue," just stop and check the pinned contacts in the wiki or the mod list. That's it, pretty simple.
Here's the pattern I keep seeing — the scammer plays on your urgency or fear. Stuff like "your account will be suspended," "we detected suspicious activity on your order," or my personal favorite, "you need to verify your ID immediately to avoid a permanent ban." They'll push you to click a link or send a photo of your ID, sometimes even a payment for a "refundable deposit." Another one I see a lot is the too-good-to-be-true offer: "You've been selected for a free upgrade, just pay shipping." None of that is real, obviously. Real support doesn't work that way, and they don't need your private info to fix anything.
So how do you protect yourself? First thing, bookmark the official support contact methods from the forum's verified vendors list. If someone DMs you with a support claim, just ignore it and report the account to the mods. Second, don't ever share your order details, payment screenshots, or any personal info outside the secure ticketing system — scammers love to collect that data for identity theft or to clone your order. Third, if something feels off, post in the general chat and ask a senior member to confirm. We've got a good community here; people will call out a scam pretty quickly.
I'll update this thread if I get more details on the specific account that tried me, but the bottom line is still the same as the title: support only communicates through official channels. Anything else is a trap. Stay sharp, keep your OPSEC tight, and if you're in doubt, just walk away and double-check before you click.
Report that account if you can
Got a DM pretending to be support asking for my order info and password. Obviously a scam
Real support never DMs you first
