Signature required?
Mine was in my mailbox when I got home
Yeah, same experience here — no signature required at all. The driver just dropped it in my mailbox like it was any old piece of mail. I didn't even get a knock or a door tag, just the tracking status flipping to "Delivered" pretty quietly.
They used standard USPS First Class for my order — it was just a small envelope. I've heard from others that some vendors will go with UPS SurePost or FedEx SmartPost for bigger packages, and even then signatures are almost never required unless you specifically ask for it or the vendor marks it as adult signature. For the typical novelty ID order, they know most people want a low-key delivery, so signing is pretty much skipped.
On the tracking side, my package went through the usual hubs — originated somewhere on the West Coast, hit a regional distribution center in Los Angeles, then transferred to Chicago, and finally to my local post office. The scans were pretty consistent, maybe one or two gaps of a day in between, but nothing that made me nervous. Overall speed was reasonable, about 5 business days coast to coast.
Packaging-wise, the envelope was plain white with no return address that screamed "novelty IDs" — just a generic shipping label. The inside had a thin cardboard insert to keep the card from bending, and it held up fine through the sorting machines. I've seen some guys complain about crushed corners, but mine came in perfect shape.
One thing I noticed: there wasn't any customs declaration visible on the outside, which makes sense if it's domestic. If you're ordering from overseas, I've read that some vendors list it as "plastic cards" or "documents" to avoid scrutiny. But again, mine was domestic, so no customs to worry about — just straight into the mailbox.
Bottom line: if you're worried about missing a delivery because you're not home, don't be. They leave it like regular mail. Just keep an eye on tracking so you know when to grab it before any shady neighbors or bad weather get to it first. The whole shipping process was smooth and low-profile, exactly what you'd want for this kind of thing.
Does delivery require a signature or do they just leave it?
