Does delivery require a signature or do they just leave it?

No signature needed. They just leave it like any other mail

Yeah, same thing happened with my last order. I was honestly stressing about the signature requirement since I work during delivery hours, but mine ended up just sitting in my mailbox when I got home. No signature needed at all.

From what I could tell, the courier choice really mattered. My package came through the regular postal service instead of one of those private couriers that usually want a signature. It went through a couple of regional sort hubs before hitting my local distribution center. I checked the tracking and it straight-up showed "delivered to mailbox" — no attempted delivery, no note left behind.

Packaging-wise, it was a small padded envelope, nothing too bulky. The envelope was sturdy enough to protect the contents, even though it got tossed in with the rest of my mail. Since it fit in the mailbox, the carrier didn't even bother ringing the bell.

As for customs — pretty sure this was a domestic shipment, so no customs hold-up. But even if it crossed borders, the lack of signature requirement probably means the shipper picked a no-signature option, or it was under the value threshold for customs to require one.

Overall shipping speed was decent. From order to mailbox took about a week, most of that time spent moving through hubs. The tracking updates were pretty standard — origin scan, arrival at regional hub, out for delivery, then delivered. Nothing unusual.

So to answer the original question: yeah, sometimes nobody has to sign. It really depends on the courier and the shipper's preferences. If you're worried, you can usually check the tracking to see if a signature is listed as required. Mine just showed up with no signature needed, so you might get lucky too.
