Signature required at delivery - does this happen?

posted by User_68a95f6603b85 4 months ago 586 views 6 comments

Hoping for clarification: will anyone need to sign for the package or does it just get left? Asking because I am not always home during delivery hours.

Yeah, same here. Every order I've gotten just lands in the mailbox—no signature, no hassle. My last one showed a tracking number update overnight and was there by morning. Stealth was on point, too, so I never stress about it. YMMV if you're unlucky with the carrier, but domestically USPS has been consistent.

Yeah, that's been my experience too. I've had a couple land without any issues—no signature, just dropped and gone. One time my tracking number update actually showed it sitting in my mailbox before I even checked, which was weird. But honestly, the stealth was on point for domestic orders. Unless you're going with an express shipping option, don't expect anything fancy. USPS keeps it simple, and that's fine by me.

Mine sat in the mailbox for a day before I got to it. No issues.

Yeah, I can confirm – no signature required. Every order I've received just got dropped in the mailbox like any other standard first class mail piece. No knocking, no door tag, nothing extra. You wake up, check the mail, and it's there.

As for courier choice, domestically these are almost always shipped via USPS First Class Mail. International orders? Same deal – just whatever the local postal service equivalent is, with no signature or tracked delivery confirmation unless you specifically paid extra. And honestly, most vendors don't even offer that option anyway. The transit hubs are just normal USPS regional sorting centers – it'll hit your local distribution facility, then get sorted to your carrier's route. Nothing special, no red flags.

Packaging is pretty basic tbh. Usually a plain white or kraft envelope, sometimes a thin bubble mailer if the item is rigid. Don't expect tamper-evident tape or discreet branding – it's just an unmarked envelope that blends right in with bills and junk mail. Customs-wise, if you're ordering internationally, it'll go through customs like usual but still won't require a signature. You might get a customs sticker slapped on it, but it'll still end up in your mailbox without you having to sign.

Overall shipping speed is exactly what you'd expect from standard first class mail – typically 3–5 business days domestic, a couple weeks internationally. Not speedy, but reliable and low-profile. If you're worried about someone having to sign, don't be. It'll just show up like any other piece of mail.

It just goes in your mailbox. No interaction with the carrier needed.

You do not need to be home. It will wait for you.
