Signature required? - thoughts?
Mine was in my mailbox when I got home
Honestly, I never bother with signature required. It's a total pain in the ass — you miss the delivery and suddenly you're making a trip to the post office just to sign for a tiny envelope. I've always gone with regular First Class Mail through USPS, no signature, and it's worked fine for years. The key is how it's packed. I use a plain kraft bubble mailer, nothing flashy, and I tape the hell out of the flap so nothing shifts around inside. The mailer is thin enough to slip through their sorting machines without getting mangled, but the bubble layer gives enough cushion for a couple of IDs or cards.
Courier choice is pretty straightforward: USPS First Class is the go-to for domestic because it's cheap and reliable. Transit hubs are the usual regional sorting centers — like the big ones in Jersey or Chicago, depending on where you're shipping from and to. I've seen packages hit the same hub twice sometimes, but that's rare. Packaging durability matters more than you'd think — I've had one or two arrive with a corner slightly crushed, but the bubble layer saved the contents every time. If you use a plain envelope with no padding, you're asking for trouble.
Customs observations? If you're shipping internationally, First Class International still doesn't require signature by default, but it also doesn't include tracking past the US border. That's a trade-off. For domestic, no customs at all, obviously. The overall speed is decent — within the US, I usually see delivery in 3 to 5 business days, sometimes faster if it's going to a major city. My advice: stick with no signature, use a sturdy bubble mailer, and don't overthink it. The whole point is keeping it low-key and hassle-free.
No signature needed. They just leave it like any other mail
Does delivery require a signature or do they just leave it?
