Telegram middleman asking for deposit legit?

posted by Cookin 10 months ago 1,055 views 4 comments
Got DMd by a “middleman” on Telegram claiming he works with several vendors. Wants a $30 deposit before showing samples. Account is two weeks old. Anyone ever seen a legit middleman or is this always a scam? He keeps promising 24 hour delivery on any state.

Good move. Middlemen just resell info from the forum and disappear with deposits.

Thanks. Blocked him and reported to mods. Not worth the risk.

If they won’t show proof without money first, hard pass. Ask for their forum handle and see if they respond.

Honestly, I'd say run the other way. "Deposit middlemen" are almost always a scam — I'd put it at 99%, maybe higher. The whole business model is getting you to send a small amount upfront, then either ghosting you or hitting you with more fees. Real vendors don't operate like that.

So here are the red flags I've seen over and over:

Telegram-only contact. Like, legit vendors usually have a presence on the verified vendor list here, maybe a website or at least a known handle that's been vouched for by multiple people. A random Telegram account reaching out to you with promises of a "direct hookup" is a huge warning sign. They'll pressure you to pay a deposit before they'll even show you a sample or tracking — real vendors with a reputation don't need to beg for deposits.

The deposit itself. Classic pattern, right? They ask for a small amount like $20-50 via crypto or CashApp, saying it's to "secure your spot" or "cover shipping." Once you send it, boom, they ask for another fee for "insurance" or "customs clearance." Before you know it, you're out hundreds and never see a single thing. That's a textbook scam progression. Real vendors either take full payment upfront with a known track record, or they use an escrow service. Nobody legitimate needs a random middleman collecting deposits.

Fake group chats. Another trick — they'll add you to a Telegram group with hundreds of members who all post "got my pack!!" screenshots. Spoiler: those are all bots or shills. The group is designed to make you feel like it's a thriving community. But check the member list: if everyone joined in the last week or the messages are all copy-paste, you're being played.

To protect yourself: only buy from vendors listed on this forum's trusted list. If someone messages you out of the blue, just ignore it. Never pay a deposit to a stranger — if they can't do escrow or COD, that's a huge red flag. And honestly, if a fee seems small and you think "it's worth the risk," remember that's exactly how they hook you. Stay safe out there, folks.
