Tested three reshipping services over six months for international-to-US package forwarding. Here is a direct comparison based on actual orders.
Service A: Mid-tier package forwarder
Registration required an email address only. Provided a physical commercial suite address. Inbound handling time was 1-2 business days from receiving the package. Forwarding options included USPS First Class, Priority, and UPS Ground. Interface was basic but functional. Cost for a small envelope: $5.50 base plus $3.50 handling. Total forwarding cost for a standard ID-sized package: about $9. Reliable across 3 orders with no issues.
Service B: Budget forwarder
No registration required for basic use. Provided a shared mailbox address at a mail center. The address was used by many other recipients which provides some anonymity but means packages occasionally get mis-sorted. Processing time was faster than Service A (usually same day) but I had one package sit for 4 days with no notification. Cheaper than Service A but with lower reliability. Not recommended for time-sensitive deliveries.
Service C: Premium service with photo notification
Slightly higher cost but sends an email with a photo of the received package before forwarding. This is useful for verifying the package arrived intact before requesting forwarding. Registration requires email but no ID verification. Costs about $15 for the same package size including a premium notification feature. More transparent than the others about package status.
Which to use
Service A for reliable standard forwarding. Service C if you want package condition verification before forwarding. Service B only if cost is the primary factor and you can tolerate some reliability variance. The extra $6 between budget and mid-tier is worth it for the consistent processing and delivery confirmation.
The $6 difference between budget and mid-tier reshipping services compounds across multiple orders. If you use reshipping regularly, the mid-tier service's reliability advantage is worth calculating against the accumulated cost difference. Services with tracking confirmation, reliable hold policies, and responsive customer service prevent the occasional lost package or address dispute that a budget service's lower staffing makes more likely. Total cost including occasional problems often makes mid-tier the economical choice.
