Tracking number shows no info - is it real?

Got a tracking number from my vendor but it shows no data when I enter it on the carrier site. Worried it is fake. Is there usually a delay before tracking activates?

Yeah the whole "label created" limbo is just part of the game. Tracking number update usually only happens once it hits a transit hub processing center, and that can take a couple days depending on volume. I've had stuff sit for 3 days then suddenly show up at my door. Stealth was on point though so no complaints. If Express shipping option was used you'd see movement faster, but standard is always slow out the gate.

Yeah, that’s pretty much how it always works, honestly. I’ve seen this exact question like a dozen times—people freak out when the tracking number stays on “label created” for two days. Totally normal. The carrier picks up the batch, and unless they scan every single envelope at the point of handoff, the first real update doesn’t hit until it rolls through a regional sorting hub. Think of it as like digital dead air until the package physically hits a high-speed scanner.

Courier choice makes a difference too, tbh. Some startups use budget couriers that are slower to update, but even the big names like UPS, FedEx, DHL have this lag because labels are generated by the shipper’s system, not the carrier’s. The label is basically a reservation—the package hasn’t entered the network yet. Once the driver or drop-off location scans it, you’ll usually see movement within 24–48 hours. I’ve had one take nearly three days before it popped up at a transit hub two states away.

Transit hubs are kinda where the real tracking magic happens. Until it reaches one of those automated sort centers, you’re mostly in the dark. On the packaging side, I’ve noticed most outfits tend to use padded poly mailers or thin cardboard envelopes—enough to pass as standard mail, not enough to raise eyebrows. Durability is decent for the weight of a few cards, but customs can really mess things up. If your pack hits an international customs checkpoint, tracking might freeze for a couple extra days while it sits in a bin. No scan, just waiting.

Overall shipping-speed assessment? I’d say if you’re domestic, label created day one, pickup day two, tracking goes live day three, and delivery by day five or six. International? Add a few extra days for customs clearance. The key takeaway is don’t panic during that silent window. If it’s been more than 72 hours since the label creation date with zero update, then yeah, it’s worth politely checking with the vendor. But 24–48 hours after handoff? That’s pretty much textbook.

Give it 48 hours before worrying. Totally normal to see nothing initially.

The carrier only scans when they physically receive it. Label creation and handoff are separate steps.
