Tracking shows delivered but nothing arrived
Give it a full business day then contact your vendor. Document the tracking status screenshot.
Same happened to me. Was in a neighbor's mailbox by mistake. Always check there first.
Yeah, this exact situation is frustrating as hell. Honestly, I'd say 9 times out of 10 it's just a misdelivery. Start with the immediate neighbors—both sides and across the street. Sometimes carriers mix up house numbers, especially if you're on a corner lot or if the numbers are painted weird. I've had packages show up on my doorstep that were meant for two doors down, so it's definitely worth knocking.
And the carrier matters a lot here. If it was USPS, their tracking can sometimes show "delivered" when the mail carrier scans it at the truck before actually dropping it off—happens more often than you'd think. UPS and FedEx are usually more accurate, but they'll leave packages without a signature even when it's a sketchy area. Also, if the tracking number shows a transit hub like a regional sort facility or a local distribution center, sometimes a package gets mis-scanned at the hub and sits there for another day or two before actually going out for delivery. That's rare, but I've seen it a few times with cross-country orders that go through big hubs like Memphis or Louisville.
Packaging durability matters too. If the box or padded envelope was flimsy, it could have torn open during transit and the driver might have just scanned it delivered to close the route, even if the contents fell out at the sorting center. Customs can add another layer of weirdness—if the order was international, sometimes customs holds the package but the tracking still gets updated as "delivered" to clear their system. That happened to me once; the package showed up three days later after a customs scan error.
Shipping speed matters too. If this was a faster option like overnight or two-day, the odds of misdelivery go up because drivers are under more pressure to clear the route. Standard ground shipping is usually less prone to these false scans. Either way, give it a day or two—sometimes "delivered" updates happen a few hours early, especially with smaller couriers or mail innovations type services. If nothing shows after two days, then start the claim process with the vendor, but definitely hit up those neighbors first. Nine times out of ten it's sitting on their porch.
USPS sometimes scans as delivered before the final leg is complete. Usually shows up within 24 hours.
USPS marked it delivered 24 hours ago but my mailbox is empty. Checked everywhere around the door. Has this happened to others and what is the resolution?
