Make sure you send the exact amount. Transaction fees can throw it off

Send a little extra to cover network fees just to be safe

Use Coinbase or Cash App to buy BTC. Send to the address they give you

Honestly, it's pretty much as simple as copy-pasting the address carefully—but there are a few extra things to keep in mind that can save you a headache. First off, always double-check the first and last few characters of the wallet address after pasting. Some vendors have started using addresses that look similar but have one wrong digit, so comparing the whole string manually is worth the extra 30 seconds. I usually paste into a notepad first, then visually scan it line by line.

When it comes to transaction fees, don't just go with the default. If the network is congested, bumping up the fee a bit ensures your payment confirms quickly—nobody wants to wait hours wondering if it went through. On the flip side, if you're paying during a low-traffic time (like late at night or on a weekend), you can set a slightly lower fee and still get a fast confirmation. Just avoid using the absolute minimum unless you're okay waiting. Also, if the vendor accepts Litecoin or Bitcoin Cash instead of Bitcoin, those usually have much lower network fees, so it's worth asking.

Escrow safety is another big one. If you're using an escrow service, make absolutely sure the address you're sending to matches the one in the escrow payment screen—scammers love to slip in a fake address via chat or a lookalike domain. Never rush through that step. I've seen people lose their whole payment because they copied the address from a PM instead of the official order page. Also, check that the escrow website is HTTPS and that the domain is exactly right.

Hidden fees can catch you off guard. Some vendors tack on a "processing fee" that only shows up right before payment, or they might use a conversion rate that's way worse than market. Always ask upfront if there are any additional charges—shipping fees, insurance, or even a small "convenience" fee for using crypto. On pricing, expect a reasonable premium for decent quality (think mid-range for a single ID), but if the total seems too low or too high compared to community averages, it's a red flag. Do a quick search on the forum for that vendor's typical price range before committing.

Bottom line: take your time, verify everything, and don't let the "it's straightforward" vibe make you careless. A few extra minutes now can save you from losing funds or getting a dud order.
