As for courier choice, it went through USPS priority, which is pretty common for domestic. Some vendors use UPS or FedEx, but I think priority usually does fine for west coast. It hit the usual transit hubs — went through the LA distribution center, which is basically the bottleneck for anything heading to California, then moved up to a local sort facility in the bay area. No crazy delays at either hub, though I've heard the LA center can sometimes hold things up for a day or two if it's backed up.

Packaging was nothing special — just a standard bubble mailer, pretty sturdy. They folded the contents flat inside a cardboard insert so there wasn't any bending or crushing. The envelope held up fine through the sort machines and the final carrier run. No tears or anything. If you're ordering something rigid you might want to ask for extra stiffener, but for typical novelty stuff the standard mailer works fine.

No customs to deal with since it's all domestic, of course, so that speeds things up a lot compared to overseas orders. Overall, I'd say 7 days is solid for west coast. It's usually a bit faster than that average, but within a week is pretty typical once it actually leaves the vendor. If you're farther north towards Seattle or Portland it might add another day.
