Bouncer Stories - Share your closest calls

Let's hear your craziest/closest call stories with bouncers or cashiers. I'll start: Was at a club in Miami, bouncer spent like 3 minutes examining my ID under UV light, bending it, scanning it twice. My heart was RACING. Finally he just handed it back and waved me through without saying anything. Thought I was done for. Anyone else have close call stories?

Best advice: Stay calm, know your info cold, and act like it's the most normal thing in the world. Confidence is half the battle. If you're nervous they'll pick up on it immediately.

Airport TSA is the most nerve-wracking. They study it way more carefully than any bouncer. Flew domestic with mine once and will never do that again. Stick to bars and stores only IMO.

College town bar, bouncer took one look at my out-of-state ID and said "everyone here has a fake from that vendor." Still let me in though. Guess he didn't care enough to actually confiscate it.

Pro tip that saved me: Bouncer asked about the building in the background of my photo. I had looked up the DMV location for my ID state beforehand so I could describe it. Details like that help sell it.

Gas station worker called her manager over to look at my ID. They both examined it, whispered to each other. Manager finally shrugged and said "looks fine to me." Took YEARS off my life lol.

Worst experience: bouncer bent my ID so hard I thought it would crack. Then he shined his phone light through it at different angles for like 5 minutes. Eventually let me in but I was convinced it was over.

Used mine at a Vegas casino (stupid idea). Security guard took it to the back office for 15 minutes. Came back, gave it to me, said have a nice night. Still don't know if it scanned wrong or they just do that to everyone.

Bouncer pulled me aside and asked about my address, when I graduated, my middle name - full interrogation mode. I knew all my info so I passed but man was I sweating. Now I practice my backstory before going out.

Man, I totally get that brain-freeze moment. I'm usually pretty good with my ID and stuff, but one time at a liquor store the cashier asked for my zip code and I just went, like, full deer-in-headlights. It wasn't even a complicated zip—I've lived at the same place for years. But for some reason, my brain decided to treat it like a pop quiz on quantum physics. I must've stood there for, like, a solid ten seconds before it finally clicked. The cashier just smirked and was like, "rough day, huh?" and scanned my bottle anyway. I felt so lucky, but also stupid. Now I always mentally recite my zip before I even walk up to the counter.

Honestly, those close calls stick with you way more than the smooth passes. I've had a bouncer stare at my ID for, like, way too long and then just hand it back without saying anything—no idea if he knew or just didn't care. Another time, a gas station clerk questioned my birth year because I apparently "look way older" (thanks?). I just shrugged and said I had a stressful job. He laughed and was like, "same," and rang me up. It's always the random interactions where you almost screw yourself over that become the best stories later. Count your blessings, man, and never forget that zip code again!
