Pregame recommendations - before the bar

posted by prlmnt 5 months ago 519 views 3 comments

Best pregame setups before a night out. Looking for advice on pacing, what to eat beforehand, and how to time everything so you are feeling good without peaking too early.

Timing the pregame so you arrive at the venue around 10-11 is usually the sweet spot.

Yeah, absolutely. Eating a real meal before drinking is one of those lessons you learn the hard way—or at least I did a few too many times in my early twenties. Now it’s non-negotiable, like you said, and I actually plan my pregames around it. If you’re heading to the bar after, try to eat at least an hour or two before you start drinking. Something with a good mix of protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs—think a burger with fries, chicken and rice, or even a big bowl of pasta. That slow-digesting meal will coat your stomach and keep the alcohol absorption from hitting you like a freight train, honestly.

Another thing that’s saved my mornings: chug a big glass of water right before you leave the house, and maybe sneak a second one in while you’re pregaming. I’ll even throw an electrolyte packet in there if I’m feeling fancy. Oh, and don’t skip the pregame snacks either—pretzels, nuts, or even a slice of pizza if you’re ordering. The goal is to start the night with a solid base so you’re not that person who’s three drinks in and already feeling it. The difference in the next-day recovery is night and day too. A little prep now means you don’t spend Sunday morning regretting everything.

Hydrate during pregame not just after. Alternating water keeps you functional later in the night.
