This is my audit of the New York template from MagicIDs. New York uses a complex card design with a clear window and a multi-color hologram overlay. MagicIDs has been working on this template, and I wanted to evaluate the print quality of their latest run. I compared this card with two older batches from other vendors.
Inspecting the Clear Window and Photos
The clear window on the right side of the card is a critical feature. The ghost image inside the window should be clean and not look blurry. On this MagicIDs card, the ghost photo is printed with correct transparency. The edges of the clear window are smooth with no rough cuts or adhesive residue. The main photo on the left is sharp, and the background lines behind it are detailed. The laser-written DOB under the window is readable.
Holographic Overlay Color Shift
The holographic overlay shifts colors smoothly when you tilt the card. The design includes the state seal and fine lines that change from gold to blue. Registration between the overlay and the card face is tight — no gap or misalignment visible even under a loupe. The signature is raised and feels tactile under your nail. I also tested the barcode, and it parsed correctly with the proper state formatting. The card texture is smooth with no rough print marks.
The package arrived on October 14, taking about nine days in transit. The shipping stealth was good, with the card placed securely between cardboard layers. The card rigidity is excellent, and it doesn't warp in a wallet slot. The microprint lines are legible under a magnifying glass. I will check the barcode data parsing on different apps tomorrow.
