California vs Texas ID - Complete Feature Comparison 2025

posted by kodakkodak 9 months ago 1,427 views 6 comments

These are the two most popular states for fake IDs. I've used both extensively and wanted to create a comprehensive comparison to help people choose.

📍 Overview

Aspect California Texas Popularity ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Complexity Very High High Avg Price (Quality) $150-220 $130-200 Best For West Coast Use Nationwide Use In-State Risk ⚠️ High ⚠️ Medium-High

🔬 Security Features Breakdown

California ID Features:

  • ✅ Raised Bear: Tactile California Republic bear on the front
  • ✅ Laser Perforation: State outline visible when held to light
  • ✅ Complex UV: Multiple UV elements (bear, state seal, patterns)
  • ✅ Optical Variable Ink (OVI): Color-shifting elements
  • ✅ Ghost Image: Secondary photo overlaid with CA text
  • ✅ 2D Barcode + Magnetic Stripe: Both must encode correctly
  • ⚠️ Challenge: Real ones have embedded RFID chip (most fakes don't)

Texas ID Features:

  • ✅ Perforated Star Outline: Texas shape with star, very precise
  • ✅ Raised DOB: Date of birth is tactile/embossed
  • ✅ UV State Seal: Texas seal glows under blacklight
  • ✅ Layered Holograms: Multiple holographic layers
  • ✅ Ghost Image: Faded duplicate photo with "TEXAS" overlay
  • ✅ Microprint: Extremely fine text around photo border
  • ⚠️ Challenge: The back overlay alignment is very precise

👥 Which Should You Choose?

✅ Choose California if:

  • You live on the West Coast (CA, OR, WA, NV, AZ)
  • You want a "prestigious" looking ID
  • You're willing to pay premium prices ($180+)
  • You'll use it ONLY out of state (never in California)
  • You want maximum effort put into the fake

✅ Choose Texas if:

  • You want nationwide acceptance (Texas is everywhere)
  • You want slightly lower prices ($150-180 range)
  • You prefer a more straightforward design
  • You're in the South/Central US
  • You want proven reliability (vendors have perfected it)

⚖️ Pros & Cons Summary

State Advantages Disadvantages California • Most popular state
• Looks very official
• Complex = harder to spot fakes
• Great for West Coast • Very expensive
• Over-scrutinized by bouncers
• Risky to use in-state
• Requires top-tier vendor Texas • Accepted everywhere
• Reliable vendors
• Good price/quality ratio
• Less commonly faked • Still fairly expensive
• Perforations must be perfect
• Bouncers know the features
• Medium-high complexity

🏆 Vendor Rankings

Best California IDs:

  1. OldIronsidesFakes - 9.5/10 (Gold Standard)
  2. LostIdentification - 8/10 (Good Value)
  3. IDGod - 6.5/10 (Budget Option)

Best Texas IDs:

  1. OldIronsidesFakes - 9.5/10 (Best Perforations)
  2. Evolved IDs - 9/10 ⚠️ (Closing Soon)
  3. IDGod - 7/10 (Decent Quality)

💡 My Personal Experience

California ID (from OISF):

Used in: Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Washington
Success Rate: 95% (rejected twice at extremely strict Vegas clubs)
Best Use: Upscale venues, casinos, high-end bars

Texas ID (from OISF):

Used in: Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana, Arizona
Success Rate: 98% (rejected once at a suspicious bouncer)
Best Use: College bars, casual venues, liquor stores

My verdict: If you can only get one, go with Texas. It's more versatile, slightly cheaper, and less scrutinized. California is great but requires a higher investment and more confidence.

❓ Common Questions

Q: Can I use California ID in Texas or vice versa?
A: Absolutely! People move between states all the time. Just have a plausible reason ready.

Q: Which is harder to fake well?
A: California, hands down. The raised bear and RFID chip make it more challenging.

Q: Which do bouncers see more fakes of?
A: California, because it's more popular. This means more scrutiny.

Thanks for the correction! You're absolutely right - I should have clarified that. Regular CA driver licenses don't have RFID anymore, only the optional EDL versions.

This actually makes CA fakes easier to replicate well. Good catch! 👍

This comparison is incredibly detailed! The tables really help visualize the differences. 📊

I've been debating between these two for weeks. Based on this, I'm going Texas since I travel a lot and want nationwide acceptance.

The vendor rankings are spot on. OISF's California is truly the gold standard - I've compared mine to my friend's real CA license and they're nearly identical.

Worth every penny of the $200 I paid. 💰

Great breakdown! One correction though:

Most California IDs DO NOT have RFID chips anymore. They phased that out in 2018. Only Enhanced Driver Licenses (EDL) have RFID, which are optional and rare.

So that's not really a concern for fakes anymore. ✅

Good question! For Midwest, consider:

  • Michigan - Makes total sense in Illinois
  • Ohio - Also very logical
  • Pennsylvania - Common enough

If you must choose between CA/TX: Go Texas and say you moved from there for work/school. More believable than California in the Midwest.

Question: If I'm in the Midwest (Illinois), which state would be less suspicious? I feel like both CA and TX might seem random for someone in Chicago.
