California fake id review FakeYourDrank

FakeYourDrank's California card has been one of their more discussed templates on this forum, so I ordered one last month to see where their current production actually stands. My previous CA novelty card was from IDGod, which gave me a direct comparison point.

Background Print and Bear Imagery

The grizzly bear graphic on the current California DL is printed at low opacity across the card background — subtle enough that it doesn't crowd the personal data fields. FakeYourDrank's version gets the density about right. On my older IDGod card the bear printed slightly too dark, making the background feel busier than genuine. On the FakeYourDrank card, the bear reads more authentically faint.

REAL ID Star

The gold star in the upper right corner is proportioned correctly. Under magnification the font weight inside the star isn't an exact match to genuine, but at normal viewing distance it looks right. Most inspection scenarios won't involve a loupe, so this is a low-risk gap.

Holographic Overlay

California's OVD uses a state seal and bear repeating pattern. FakeYourDrank includes the pattern but the color shift on tilt reads slightly warmer — a gold hue rather than the cooler blue-green shift on genuine CA cards. Under direct comparison this is noticeable; in isolation it's not obvious. The overlay is seated flat with no lifting or edge curl on the card I received.

UV and Barcode

UV testing under a 365nm light showed the expected fluorescent pattern across the card body at consistent density. This was actually the strongest result in my comparison — the IDGod card I had showed weaker UV intensity in the lower card zone. FakeYourDrank held up well here.

The PDF417 barcode decoded correctly on first attempt with both SCUID and ID Analyzer. All standard AAMVA fields populated. Magnetic stripe also read cleanly on two separate readers.

Tactile Depth

The one area where FakeYourDrank's California card falls short is tactile texture on the address and date of birth fields. Genuine CA DLs have noticeably pronounced raised text in those zones — press a fingernail lightly across them and you feel the individual characters. The FakeYourDrank version passes a quick casual touch but the depth is shallower than genuine under careful comparison.

Card thickness measured 0.76mm — within spec. Corners are cleanly finished with no delamination. For a novelty collector piece the FakeYourDrank CA template delivers on most visual elements; the hologram color temperature and tactile depth are the areas I'd want tighter.

I got one from them a few months back, and I was honestly surprised by the material thickness—it's actually pretty solid, doesn't feel flimsy at all. I was a bit nervous about the bend test at first, but it passed easily without creasing. The microprinting clarity could be a bit sharper if you inspect it super close, but from a normal distance, it looks 1:1. Only minor thing: compare your microlines to a real CA one if you can.
