Connecticut - the underrated northeast pick
NY gets too much attention. CT is the smart move in the region.
Know your geography though. Greenwich, Hartford, New Haven basics at minimum.
I've been saying this for a minute – Connecticut is genuinely underrated in the northeast circuit. Most people just think of New York or Massachusetts, but CT flies under the radar. Bouncers aren't as familiar with the template since they don't see fakes of it that often. That means less scrutiny overall, which is like half the battle right there. I've used mine in Boston and Philly without any second looks.
As for the technical side, the microprint is decent but not perfect. The fine line text around the portrait and the state outline is there, but if you really look at it with a loupe you'll notice it's a bit thicker and less crisp than a real OLES-issued CT ID. That said, nobody's pulling out a magnifier at a bar. The UV response is solid – the state outline and "Connecticut" text glow a bright bluish-white under blacklight. The color is slightly cooler than the real deal, but it's not a dead giveaway unless someone holds it right next to a genuine one.
The OVI color-shifting on the gold seal? It's there but subtle. It shifts from green to gold when you tilt it, though the transition isn't as smooth as on a real ID. It's good enough for a quick glance, but if someone deliberately plays with it under a bright light, they might catch the dullness. The card material itself has a decent polycarbonate feel – not too flimsy, not too rigid. It bends slightly under pressure but snaps back, which is close to the real thing. However, the lamination layer can feel a bit thick along the edges if you run your thumb over it.
Honestly, I'd give this one a solid 7.5 out of 10. It's not perfect on the technical side, but bouncers' lack of familiarity more than makes up for the little flaws. If you're in the northeast and want something that won't get picked apart, CT is a smart move. Just don't expect it to pass a TSA-level inspection – it's built for the nightlife, not the airport.
Template is one of the cleaner ones to replicate. Good call.
Everyone goes for NY or MA but CT is the smarter choice for northeast use. Bouncers outside of Connecticut rarely know what to look for. Template is clean and reproducible accurately. Sleeper pick.
