Florida IDs - what to look for
The bend test is honestly underrated for Florida. If it feels flimsy after a gentle flex, the material thickness is probably off and that window quality won't save it. I've also noticed microprinting clarity matters a lot more up close — one I looked at recently passed the bend test but the microprint was muddy. The tactile feel is still my go-to though. Does the lam feel right to you guys?
Nice insights. For me it's all about the feel — material thickness really separates a solid Idaho from a flimsy one every time. I've handled some that look good but the weight's just wrong. I always do the bend test before trusting anything; plus, passing that gives you confidence it’ll survive a wallet. Microprint clarity on the back matters more than people think too—soft print usually means corners were cut.
Nice breakdown. Totally agree on the window—if that’s off, the whole thing’s a bust. The tactile feel on the front signature is a must too; on a good one, it’s clearly raised and not just printed flat. That’s what really makes it look 1:1 in hand. One thing I’d add is to check the microprinting clarity around the palm trees—sloppy lines are a dead giveaway every time.
