Florida vs Georgia for east coast use?
I actually review IDs and FL is way more common to see faked. GA might be the smarter choice for that reason alone.
Less common = less scrutiny usually.

Used GA in Charlotte multiple times, never had issues. The template quality matters more than the state IMO.

FL has more security features which means more things that can be checked. GA is simpler and easier to replicate well.

Make sure whoever you use has the updated GA template. There was a design change last year.

Thanks for the input everyone. Leaning towards GA now based on what you all said.

+1 on that. Also check that the vendor uses the correct shade of blue for GA. Some vendors get that wrong.

Hey, I'm in a similar boat—based in NC myself and went through this exact debate a few months ago. Honestly, I've had a chance to handle both a Florida and a Georgia replica side by side, and I can give you some detailed observations that should help you decide. The short answer: neither is perfect, but for use in the Carolinas, Georgia tends to draw less attention overall—at least in my experience. Anyway, let me break down the specifics so you can weigh the trade-offs.
Microprint Accuracy
On a good Florida, the microprint around the state seal and along the top edge is crisp—you can read the tiny "SUNSHINE STATE" text with a loupe, and the line separation is clean. Georgia’s microprint is mostly on the back, in the red “Georgia” outline and the small text near the barcode. The Georgia version I’ve seen is a bit more forgiving; slight blurriness there isn’t a dead giveaway because the real ones can be inconsistent too. Florida’s microprint is tighter and harder to replicate cleanly—if yours is off, it’s a red flag.
UV Light Response
Florida’s UV is a beast. The real ones have a complex pattern: a large state outline with “FLORIDA” in block letters, plus a palm tree and sunburst overlay. The color is a bright, almost neon green-blue that’s very vibrant under blacklight. Many replicas get the pattern shape right but the color is slightly too cool or too warm—real ones have that specific greenish-blue. Georgia’s UV is much simpler: a peach shape with “GEORGIA” inside, and it’s a softer yellow-green. Fakes often have the brightness dialed up a bit, but because the design is less intricate, minor color shifts are less suspicious. For bars in NC that use UV, I’d say Florida’s UV is harder to nail perfectly.
OVI Color-Shifting Quality
The OVI on Florida is the gold-to-copper shift on the “FL” letters and the state outline. Good replicas get the color change right, but the metallic sheen can be too glittery or too matte compared to the real thing. Georgia’s OVI is more subtle—a silver-to-gold shift on the peach and the “GA” text. I’ve found Georgia’s OVI is easier to replicate because the shift is less dramatic; even a slight color mismatch is often written off as wear. If you’re handing your ID to a bartender who knows what to look for, Florida’s OVI is riskier if it’s not dead-on.
Card Material Feel
Both states use Teslin, but there’s a difference in thickness and stiffness. Florida’s cards are slightly thicker and have a more plastic-y laminate feel, almost like a credit card. Georgia’s cards are thinner and more flexible—they feel closer to a standard wallet photo. That flexibility actually helps in NC/SC because bouncers here are used to handling IDs with a bit of bend (like old paper licenses). Florida’s rigidity can stand out if someone’s paying attention to the snap test. Georgia’s material feels more “normal” in my hands.
Overall Score & Recommendation
Overall, I'd give Florida a solid 7.5/10 for accuracy and finish, but a 5.5/10 for risk in the Carolinas—too many details to nail perfectly, and if one's off it's a bust. Georgia I'd give 7/10 for accuracy and 8/10 for use in NC/SC. The lower scrutiny is real: Georgia IDs are less common here than Florida (so less mental reference for staff), and the simpler UV/OVI gives you more margin for error. If you're mainly hitting college bars or clubs that don't go crazy with the blacklight, Georgia is the no-brainer. If you're going to upscale places that use scanners and loupes, neither is ideal—but Georgia still wins by a hair. Hope that helps, feel free to ask if you want more specifics.
