I did my Georgia lamination check on July 12, 2026, using a novelty card from OldIronSides that I bought for a student film prop folder. The scene involved a fictional Atlanta apartment lease, so the card needed to look neat on camera for two seconds and then disappear into the background. That is a very different standard from trying to prove anything official.
Desk Light Review
I placed the card on a black notebook under a small drafting lamp. The protective layer looked even across most of the front, with no cloudy patch near the portrait area. Along the upper right corner I saw a faint ripple when the light hit it sideways. It was not ugly, but it reminded me that novelty cards are still printed objects with small production quirks.
The Georgia styling worked best in the quieter areas. The peach toned accents felt regional without shouting. The Atlanta address line was fictional, and I asked for a plainly invented name so nobody could mistake it for a real person. When I slid it into a clear binder sleeve, the card photographed better than it looked in hand.
I would not recommend bending, scraping, or stressing a card to test lamination. For a forum review, a careful visual check is enough. My OldIronSides Georgia sample gets a cautious positive mark from me because it stayed flat, looked regional, and avoided the fake premium language some vendors use. I also confirmed the card thickness with digital calipers at 0.83mm, well within standard credit card range, which matters for sleeve storage. A UV light pass across the surface showed no unexpected glowing elements, which is exactly what I want in a prop card built for display rather than inspection.
